Default GSR front brake swap, sponge pedal?

okay so i swaped my stock civic dx brakes for GSR fronts.

my problem is the pedal feels soft and has a very light feel (hard to get a good brake feel)

The car stops great. There is no air in the lines. It's okay when driving around (and almost seems to be getting better maybe as the pads wear in)

At idle the pedal is way soft. It feels like ****. If you pump it it gets softer and idle gets funny. No vacuum leaks.

My IACV is disconnected could that have anything to do with it?

I think it's the brake booster because with the car off the pedal is great nice and stiff.

Also if i have the car running and disconnect the brake booster vacuum line from the intake manifold the brakes are very stiff and feel good.

Do i need a new/different brake booster?

What can i do to get that nice hard pedal that i've never really had and it's worse now with the GSR fronts

how much do brake lines help? I'm using Super ATE fluid....

Have you checked your master cylinder secondary cup? Sounds like that MIGHT be the problem. Just out of curiosity what does the pedal do if you are on a steep downhill descent and you hav eto hold it ffor a long time?

You'll probably want to swap out your stock 13/16" master cylinder for something larger. 15/16" or 1" would be more ideal for Integra calipers. That should improve pedal feel significantly.

I'm assuming you have a '92-95 Civic? If so, the '90-91 Civic EX 4dr master cylinder will bolt right up to your stock booster and lines, and is 15/16".

The caliper size won't change pedal feel as long at the input and output (IE hydraulic pistons) are correctly sized. Seriously man......try bleeding the brakes some more. I had a similar problem and it tunred out that my silly *** just needed to bleed them more.

the brakes have gotten MUCH better over the last 100 miles for some reason (pads breaking in i guess)

i'd still like to improve the feel more... still way softer than i would like.

so would 1" or 15/16" be best master cylinder? Are they both a direct swap?

Should just get a new one or is used okay?

Thanks H-T
