When you do a timing belt and water pump change, you end up changing the coolant too. Some people/shops like to change the radiator cap when they do a coolant change as well.

When you had a radiator cap that was for show for 60.00 and you have a 2.00 one on there now it's not just a little thing.

When you had a radiator cap that was for show for 60.00 and you have a 2.00 one on there now it's not just a little thing.

Yeah, I really haven't heard of OEM caps ever going bad, but it just might be that shop's policy.
