Default What kind of power are you HC H4 Civic drivers getting?

I was just talking to my friend about what kind of power you SOHC D series HC H4 guys have. I was able to get 125whp/98tq from my d series. Is that even close?
Comparison between ITA and HCH4? Similar specs?

If you are trying to compare a JDM motor to an HC-H4/ITA USDM motor you cannot. We are not allowed to have the JDM unit in the car for either class. Mod's are very limited in scope. Can a USDM motor be built for the power you are talking about-sure, but it may not be legal according to the rulebook.

No, I understand that. You have to use to 1.5 or 1.6 liter stock non-vtec sohc motors. I know they are rated at low 100's to the crank stock, what are the JUICED UP non-vtec SOHCs putting out? I know my JDM D15b was comparable to the newer USDM D16z6/D16y8 specs as far as power. High 120's to the crank stock, and low 100's to the wheels.

Our ITA/HC4 Honda Civic EX Coupe (D16Z6)... about 119 hp/ 105 tq at wheels (dynojet).
(Bone stock engine+ header+ hondata, but very competitive none the less.)

One of the guys I run against here runs a del sol that he just dyno'd. His is the VTEC del sol motor and he said he put down 128 to the wheels. He runs about 150 lbs heavier than me and my car is nearly identical in speed, so I'd guess I'm somewhere around 115 - 120 at the wheels, possibly a little less. I'm sure more is attainable out of the Si motor, but not a lot more. The only things I could still do to my motor would be bump compression by .5, port and polish 1" into the head, ECU tuning. I can't imagine that the sum of those would add up to more than 10 hp in that motor. I think Danny did all of those things to get the del sol to 128whp.

Holy crap, did I stumble onto another Forum?!?! I got 2, count them 2 straight answers for a change. Oh, sorry, I just noticed you guys are newer to H-T.com explaining the straight forward answers I rec'd!
Thanks guys, that is exactly the answer I was after. So a fully built spec HC H4 non-vtec motor should see 110-120 with bolt ons. I agree, the headwork and compression bump can't be more than 10whp or so.

remeber a dyno is just a tool and you can get VERY VERY different results from dyno to dyno, and even on the dyno.

There is still more to come.

Just waiting until after this month, so I will have more wrench time. By the way I did not polish into the head, that was the only thing I did not do. Just the .5 compression bump and 1mm over pistons. And you numbers are right, I am at 128whp and 116 tq on a dyno jet, but like I said still more to come.

I don't think many people realize this. Numbers are completely subjective to the dyno you are on.

Bring it on .. I ain't skerred. It's gonna take more than a couple extra ponies to shake me. I'm looking forward to being back at PIR after our battles at Firebird.
Make sure you get that weight back in your car since they'll probably weigh us there. You don't want to be stripped of your 2nd place finish.

lol.. smack talking now. You went from humble to cocky!!! Just remember PIR doesn't have as much of an effect of power as Firebird does. With the car driving properly now it is going to be a monster. LOL

I don't think I ever ended up under weight at Firebird. I didn't go through much gas at all during the race. I'm all legit baby!

I can't wait until this weekend either.. Should be a good race now that both our cars work! I wonder if Travis will be there also? H4 is a growin.. it would be good when Justin steps in also.

I just need this months races to be over so I can pull the engine again to get my extra ponies. I have some precise measurments to make.

Humm....
My friend has a D series with big compression, aftermarket cam and gears, "trick head", MSD, bored over pistons.
He makes 139WHP on the same dyno--

Was this your first attemp at biulding a motor???

You should start biulding motors for a living

You should see my new found garage. It is a full service shop baby!

My friend Justin and I went in on a garage and combined all of our tools and equipment. We're on are way to haveing a little shop! The apartment complex my garage is in may have a problem with it though! We'll see where it leads! If anyone does need work done though Justin and I are definetly willing to work something out. He and I can bot definetly use the extra $$....
