Default Screw Jersey, a story about lowering my EK coupe

So i've got a 1999 ex and i recently got some neuspeed racing springs to lower it. Thought i'd keep my stock struts and all. Began to remove the nuts up on the strut towers, the damn stud breaks off on one tower and on the other tower the nut is rusted to hell and is striped. So i get around to ordering the new top piece from a local honda dealership and today i go to put everything together. Get the front springs in all nice and all, go to do the backs and now the back strut is leaking fluid and the bolt on the right completly broke off on the U arm. What the hell is with this damn south jersey weather that makes everything coroad so easily and why do i have such bad luck?! Anyone else go through this BS?

Its called road salt. Also salt air from ocean.
Those bolts are all common breaks though.

You might want to take it to the shop if you really cant fix it but most of the time you can, just research as much as you can before you start anything thats how most little problems turn into big problems.

u can def do the shocks yourself

a good idea is to recplace the spring AND strut when u do it. Get some cheap kyb gr2s or something, they will handle the lowering MUCH better than stock, especially if ur sotck gear is leakin/rusted/broken

When I did my agx+GC i had both at the same time, and new nuts and everything, so that stock BS was TOAST. The old grinder made quick work of the stock springs AND struts.

If you plan on keeping stock stuff- take to shop
if you replace it all- cut dem bitches off and DIY 4 sure

*edit*: also saok all nuts/bolts u wanna get off in wd40 for 15min then try and go at it

haha hate that climate, i used to live up north where there was always salt and stuff, now i moved to california, no snow, no salt and virtually no potholes...perfect for tuning

I say dont get the GR2's. IMO, they are far worse than stock. They may be better for a year, but they will blow MUCH faster than stock.

It's weird that you had problems with those top nuts though. Are you missing the splash shield under your engine. I have done susp work on tons of hondas and other cars in nj and never once had a problem with those nuts or any nut in the engine bay for that matter.

well i thought id give people the update. Well me and my friends tried for hours to just use a hammer to bang out the bolt (the head broke off) and we got the strut off of there too so it was just the bolt stuck in the bushing. well no luck and then the next day my friend came over with a high power blow torch and we pretty much blasted the bolt out a lil bit and hammered on the long side. the bushing got hot and eventually the whole thing punched out. after it was out it was easy to just hammer it out of the bushing. put the bushing back in (easy as pushing it in) and put the whole new deal back on! project done
