swapping gauge cluster. need help.
hi,
my sister has a 97 integra ls automatic. the speedo in the cluster is totally shot, spins around in circles. otherwise the cluster works, so its the speedo itself thats shot.
i bought a 97 gsr automatic cluster and now ive got to swap it in. it should be a straight plug in replacement right? i need a how-to guide to replace this thing.
ive never owned 94+ integra, so i know little to nothing about them. do i have to pull out the whole dash to get to the cluster or can i just pull out certain parts?
any details or writeups will be very helpful and appreciated. thx.

Not the speedo. Check the VSS sensor on the tranny. The cable might be loose, or you might need to replace the sensor.
But if you want to swap, here's a simple guide.
Look at the black thing surrounding the cluster. There should be two screws on the top part right behind the steering wheel. Unscrew that and pull out the black cover. You might need to lower the steering wheel to get it out. The cluster is held in by three screws. One on each side, and one on the top holding it to the dash.
Then on the back there are three (four for automatic) clips that you need to unplug. And there's a little circle clip holding the harness onto the gauge cluster. Rip that out, since it makes it a pain in the *** to unplug the harness. Then, repeat the process backwards to get the new one in. You'll need to reroll the odometer to the correct milage. Seach the internet for how to do that, and don't tell your mechanic or anyone you did it!

yeha u were right, it wasnt the cluster, must be the vss sensor.
she has a check engine light, checked the code and its a tranny code. would that could be bc of the vss sensor on the tranny, or u think the tranny itself is causin the speedo to go whacko?

Guide to swap cluster:
1. Using a stubby philips screwdriver, remove the two top screws on dash bezel.
2. Remove the bezel, pulling from the bottom seems easier for me.
3. Remove the three screws holding the cluster in, one on the top, and one on each side the cluster.
4. Pull out cluster and remove 4 plugs.
5. Reverse the process.
