Default How to tune your car faster !!

My car is ITR. I did toda B cam, I/H/E, mugen head gasket and aftermarket cpu.
Now i am running 13-13.2 A/F ratio. If i put the a/f ratio more leaner, i will get more power. But the tuner said: it will destory your engine.
I saw he tuned B16A engine with the same A/F ratio as me or little bit learner than me. I would like to know, what is the range of A/F ratio for ITR is the best??

depends on the set up. low to mid 13s is probably pretty common and considered pretty safe as far as detonation goes (on a NA setup anyway). some cars like to run leaner, some like more fuel. u dont know til you get on a dyno with wideband and see what it likes. timing can also effect this. its better to stay safe rather than try to squeeze out 1more peak hp and get detonation.

I'd say the tuner has done a good job for you by getting good power without putting your motor in danger.

I want to try A/F ratio 13.5 from 2000rpm to 6000rpm and 13.3 from 6000rpm to 9000 rpm. Is it safety??

The only way to determine if this is safe for YOUR motor is if your tuner is able to read signs of detonation on your sparkplugs.....

Some motors can handle it...while yours may not be able to....

I'd say your AF is right on spot . Running it leaner will only gain a few hp, which you'll never notice anyway, while making your engine less reliable.

If you're beating on your R/going to trackdays, running rich will make your engine last longer due to lower combustion temp.

I say play it safe an keep it right where it is.

You probably want to listen to the tuner.

On my last tuning, Sakai sacrificed about five horsepower because he knew that it would be on the track quite a bit, and he wanted it to last.

also keep in mind that a/f ratio even a being a full point off, will not affect hp that much. your timing curve is the important, and riskier, one.

theres more to tuning than just a/d ratio.. let it be.. so many get focused and facinated by peak numbers, what about reliability? don't you want your setup to last? its bad enough you got aftermarket camshaft, at least keep safe fuel settings

longetivity > few more hp
