Default Car died while driving - wouldn't start. Any ideas on where to start?

Hey guys hopin someone can help me with some symptoms i've been having.

Just happened yesterday. Went out to my car after work and it wouldn't start...would just crank. I cranked a couple time and was like, wtf. Waited a sec, pushed in on the accelerator, let off, cranked again and then it started (not sure if the accelerator had anything to do with it). Anyway, it started...drove fine.
I had started and turned it off a couple times since then and it started up just fine like almost immediately. Anyway, later in the day I was driving along and started slowing down and the car turned off. I was going about 10 mph. It started right back up.
Then again today I went after work and it started right up, went to the store, was in there for 5 minutes. Came back out and tried starting it and the same thing...just cranked. It ended up starting after I did the same thing as mentioned before.

I have no idea. Anyone have any ideas? Distributor? Ground? I have no idea where to start. Any help is appreciated!

Thanks!

Check your main relay underneath the drivers side dash by the hood release. Everytime you turn the key to the on position the engine light should come on then go out after a few seconds, then the main relay should make a tick sound. If there is no tick then you need to repair your main relay, or get a new one.

Maybe the ignitor? It's in the distributor and if I recall correctly, Honda had a service bulliten on this part, at least for crx. I forget how the delearship checked if the service was already performed on my car. It wasn't and so they replaced for free. Check with dealership to see if it has already been replaced in your car.

How is it when it is running? Good idle? Erratic and jumpy? Tach jumping all over the place while driving?

Also, yes I would check battery grounds and terminals for corrosion and good connections.

it actually runs pretty well, so i'm not quite sure. i know we changed something in the distributor what i can't remember if it was the coil or ignitor. i'm almost positive we put a new ignitor in.

I would check your fuel pump. I had the same problems with this civic i got for free. turned out the fuel pump was bad. Not really an easy way to test this. but when it doesnt turn over it just cranks put your ear up to the gas tank to see if the fuel pump turns on. it would be like a whining noise for a second when you first turn the key to the acc position. pm me and tell me more info. I'm really interested in this problem.

make sure all your plug wires are seated properly, and none of your plugs are fouled. if the wires are old, i'd recommend replacing them. check for buildup inside your distributor cap and rotor button, too.

Friend works for Honda and he just recently got a newsletter about the fuel pressure regulator being faulty causing boiling in the fuel lines. This sounded like the exact problem I have. It could also be caused by winter gas...so I'm hoping that's what it was and if so - not going to Shell anymore. If not, then I will start with the fuel pressure regulator...prob an adjustable one while I'm at it.

Could also be your ignition starter switch. AKA Ignition Switch.

i'm havin sort of the same problem...i just bought a crx with a b18 swap in it...it's been sittin for a while maybe 3 months...i was drivin it and for 2 days it was straight nothin...the 3rd i was on my way to school and i shifted to 3rd...well it seems like everything electrical died...i was pushin the gas but wasn't goin nowhere...i could hear the engine decelerating(tach was dead pretty much no movement) and when i pushed the gas i could hear the throttle open but i wouldn't accelerate..when i downshifted the rpms rose up but i kept decelerating...it wouldn't start up when i pulled over...the main relay clicks like crazy when it's in the on position...i mean like crazy and the cel blips on and off the same time the relay clicks...we tried another main relay(not sure if it was good or not but it didn't click until i went to try and start it up)...the idiot who had the car used a crx ecu instead of an integra one so i'm thinkin that's part of the problem but idk what it could be..i believe the fuel pump works...that's what my friend says

I had about the same problem last week. I had her for two whole days.
I believe it were the cables attached to the ignition.

Don't think that is the same problem. I think I just had a case of bad/winter fuel. It hasn't happened since that tank and I have filled up twice since then and no problems. Wish I could help man...good luck though.

If you start having those symptoms again, try you might need to replace the ignition switch. I know it happened to me a couple times, i thought it was the main relay. bought a relay and still didn't work and then i fooled around and found out it was the ignition switch. Just to let you know for future references.
