Holy Crap-- H-T search sucks! Can't find any "All about Jacks" threads...
Or maybe I just suck at searching..
I'm in the market for a good jack, and I know for an absolute fact that that topic has been covered numerous times.
...but searching for "jack" in this forum, recent and archived, post titles and post content, doesn't give me any of the "jack" threads. I checked the faq for the heck of it, no luck...
Anybody have those good "this is a good jack to buy"/"this is a jack to avoid buying" threads bookmarked that you can post for me?
Many thanks.

I just bought a Sears aluminum jack for $119.00. The website said the retail price was $199.00. It went on sale for $179.00 so I went over to buy it. When I got there, it was $119.00!
Although they were out of stock, I asked if I can pay for it now, and picked it up two days ago. Very light at 44lbs, at least thats what they say.
FWIW, i have the $119 harbor freight one and my friend has the $199 craftsman one. The craftsman one is a lot smoother, and easier to pump. They both get the car up in about the same amount of pumps.
the HF one is a bit lighter, but the thing that majorly sucks about the HF is the distance you have to actually move the handle to make contact with the piston

I have one of the Brunnhoelzl jacks. In fact, they used to call them something else. It has been working great but it cost big $$$.
I also have two Harbor Freight jacks. While they both still work, one is dying. Other than having to bleed one, once, they have been ok.
The Brunnhoelzl is a vastly superior product but it really isn't worth almost 5X as much. Or is it..... It has never let me down.

Looks like I didn't get a deal. THey have two aluminum jacks, one for $199 that has a 2 ton capacity and the $119 that has 1.5 ton limit, which is the one I have. LOL.

The 1.5 Ton is generally enough. We have a jack similar to the Cuponeand a Craftsman 2 Ton. Work about the same and don't quit. Every now and then Sears does have the 2 Ton on sale and it is well worth the price even ifit weight 7ponds more thansome other brands. Just my 2 cents
