SAFC II, Is this what i need???
So i know my car will need some tuneing when it is all done, but i dont think i need to step up to Hondata. The set up is as follows. 96LS motor, Crane cams (#12's) I/H/E, N1 crank pulley. And i will be adding cam gears when i get the cams in.
I will have it dyno tuned to set the cams, but once that is done i dont plan on doing much more to the car. I thikn I will be very happy with the set-up as i was allready happy with the car with just I and E.
So will a SAFC do the trick? Do i really need to go with hondata or uberdata? I dont really want to get into new ECU's and things like that.
I know from searching some people say you can tune even more HP out of an engine with a stand alone. But i really dont think i need that little extra bit of power. The car is a semi-daily driver, and just my fun car. Maybe a couple Auto X a year. I am just worried about going too lean in higher RPM.
Long term plans are for head work and maybe a bump in the CR, but that is a long time down the road.

It all depends on how much tuning ability you want. The SAFC II is more limited than the Hondata or the stand alones like AEM EMS.
If the mods you have now are probably the extent of your modding the car, the AFC might do the trick for you. BUT, not matter what, if you choose the Hondata, you will gain more tuning ability and will be able to make more power.

The cams are pretty mild, and as i am not planning anything else in the near future i thikn the ECU will take up for some of the changes, but i also know the ECU can only do so much, that is where i thikn the AFC will come in handy.
Lets say i had the AFC in the car and got it dynoed and got 150hp, then i put in Hondata and had it re-tuned to a street tune how much HP would i gain?? Or is it not in terms of HP but how the powerband kicks in and where the TQ is??
Does anyone have a set-up like mine, maybe with crowler 402's or 403?? What are you running, did you have a AFC??

i have a field SFC. no hi/lo throttle adjustments, no ignition adjustments, just good old fuel management. and nice buzzer for shifting. it has several functions, but anyways, i have crower 404's, a much bigger grind than what you're talking about, and it runs great with the SFC. sure, i could get more power out of something that is capable of tuning at different throttle positions and tuning the ignition curve, but the SFC fits my budget for now. if i get rich later maybe i'll go with Hondata S100. no boost and no drag racing so i see no need for S200. i think the car is already tuned pretty well. it runs nice and strong and the a/f ratio is good all the time, so i'm happy. i'm not always looking for a few HP to pick up through tuning. i see tuning solely as a reliability measure. stay tuned for a retune after i put in 12:1 pistons and make this sucker run 93 octane.
