Default Civic 2000 EX keyless Entry Remote

Hi,
I bought an used Civic EX 2000. The dealer only gave me one key, no remote control. He said the auto has keyless control function.

I wonder how can I let keyless control work. I heard about that I need buy a remote control and reprogramm it. Anybody can give me some light? Can I DIY reprogramm it? And whay type of remote control I should use?

Thank you.

-Max

I'm not sure what you mean, but the EXs have keyless entry with alarm on them.

You need to buy a Honda remote for that car. I'm not sure about programming it though. When I bought mine, it only had one remote, and I made sure they were going to give me another one when I made the deal, because the dealer charged $80 for programming fee.

You can go on egay and buy ANY honda transponder, it doesn't have to be for a civic.

Or you can also buy them from Vatozone.

In your manual (the ***** one that came with the car) it tells you how to program it to work with your car. Basically you hold down a certian button on the radio and the option button on the transponder and it will work with that car now.

Hi,
I found this.
http://www.circuitcity.com/ccd...93029
Looks like it's a general one, and be compatible with Honda Civic 2000.
However, when I called their staff in Circuit CIty, the guy told me that I cannot by the code alarm only. I need to install their system also. Kind of confused.
Does it make sense?

I honestly don't think that you can use any remote, that you have to get one from the Honda dealer. I could be wrong, but I don't see how it would work.

As for the programming part in the manual, I checked mine, and my helms, and it didn't have any info. I'll check again, and scan something in if I find it.

I would seriously go to the dealer and have them buy you two new remotes for the car. Like I said, mine was missing one, and that was one of the stipulations of the deal. I would call them and do whatever you have to to get one; because they're not cheap, it's probably why they sold the car without them.

they really should've given you the remotes... ask the dealer what happened to them because that just isn't right... the car came stock with keyless entry (not with alarm as previously posted)

or you need to go find a remote with FCC ID : A269ZUA106 and have it reprogrammed to your car... $90 from the dealer or you can go here...

I have the same car as him (2000 EX) and it came stock with an alarm and keyless entry.

I know now the 7th gens come with keyless and no alarms (on the LX models anyway) but I'm not sure if there were any EKs that came like that.

the alarm was a dealer installed accessory that retailed at $188 on the "EK" ex's... so i do not doubt that yours came with alarm and keyless... but i'm pretty sure it did not come that way from the factory... i own one as well

my ex stole my remote for my car........2000 si
this is what i did buy a remote ebay or dealership aor anyone that has one that works for your car. then program it, its very easy.

Programming the Transmitter

1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
2. Press the “Lock” or “Unlock” button on one of the transmitters. (An unprogrammed transmitter can be used for this step.)
3. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
4. Repeat steps 1, 2, and 3 two more times using the same transmitter used in step 2.
5. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
6. Press the “Lock” or “Unlock” button on the same transmitter. Make sure the power door locks cycle to confirm that the system is in programming mode.
7. Within 10 seconds, press the “Lock” or “Unlock” button on each transmitter. Make sure the power door locks cycle after you press each transmitter button to confirm that the system accepted the transmitter’s code.
8. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0) to exit the programming mode.

thats it.

peace
