Default Headlights .. Xenon bulbs or HID's on EG ? help!!111!

I have 1 piece projectors on my EG right now and im sick of them. So im going to switch to stock headlights with amber corners. My question is which is better as far as performance goes. Xenon bulbs or HID's .. If im not mistaken, the bulbs are just plug ins and you might need to upgrade the wire harness ( I already have that) .. And the HID's you need to do some retro work to fit it properly. But that was for an integra so I dont know if that applies to a civic. What im really looking for is some high quality and bright lights that dont require too much work to install. Yes im lazy like that and you all know you are like that too at times .. So anyways, any information on this would be great, and yes I did do a search

just retrofit the 1 piece projectors. if you dont feel confident enough to do it there are people on here that will do the retro fit. I do them in my spare time.

And you are .. who? exactly? cause that was the most stupid thing i've ever heard. Because it looks like to me like you are quite the follower with a comment like that. Im doing my own individual thing and if you dont like it, then guess what, good.. Because I wouldn't want people like you to like the way my car looks. So as far as im concerned, you can take your and shove it up your ***.

--------------------

Anyways. I dont think I mentioned that I dont like the projectors because they dont give me a wide view. Its just strait and thats not good for driving. So that ( mr. Hape-follower asshat ) is why im going back to stock. I was hoping to get some HID's but I see a big price difference in them. I see full conversion kist that run for like 50 bucks, then I see some that are like 400. Is this one of those things that the higher the price, the better the product? Because I dont want to spend that kind of money when I can get it cheap. But I do want the best or as close to the best.

(btw, that asshat comment wasnt for you lyfestyle. just so ya know)

His 2 thumbs must be up his ***. I would go HID but spend the money. You can't get HID for $50 even $200 for that matter. Plan on spending $400-$1000. But you will like it. HID is based ok Kelvin temperatures. The higher the temp, the brighter and whiter the light, also the quicker that expensive bulb will need to be replaced.

This is a common misconception. With current HID capsules, color temperatures greater than 4300K begin to result in less light output, and the color itself changes from white to blue / purple. High color temperature HID's (such as 8000K, 10,000K, 12,000K, etc.) actually offer inferior performance to the standard 4300K capsules found in OEM HID systems.

OEM units also use 6000k bulbs.

Which car? I thought, by law, OEM HID were required to be 4300K; Manufacturers use reflectors and lenses to get the color they desire out of that color temp.

I'm not aware of any factory HID system that utilizes 6000K capsules. Which systems are you referring to?

I did some searching and I can't find any proof that this is true. A couple of differents sites were saying stock is close to 4500K (which I took to mean 4300K) and many sites were offering "upgrade" bulbs in 6000K or 8000K.

4300k is OEM that comes on all HID equipped cars. IF a bulb goes out they replace it with 5000 or 6000 to match the color. If you replace a bulb that has 100-200 hrs the color has shifted and is not as white as previous. 4300k is the best light output. The older the bulbs the less output is put on the ground.

BUDDY, GO WITH THE STOCK HEADLIGHTS, AND 6000-6500K H.I.D UNITS WHICH WILL GIVE YOU A PURPLISH-BLUISH LOOK. 4100K IS THE BASIC HID WHICH IS ONLY A BRIGHT WHITE WITH A TINGE OF PURPLE, 8000K-10000K WILL PRODUCE AN OVERLY BLUE ANNOYING LIGHT THAT WILL BE GAURANTEED FOR YOU TO GET REEMED UP THE *** BY THE COPS EVERYNIGHT OUT. EVEN WORSE 12,000K!! ANYTHING OVER 8000K MAY BE REALLY BRIGHT, BUT THE COLOR IS SO FAKE.

THAT IS WHY I RECOMMEND 6000-6500K THE VERY SMART CHOICE, AND THE REALEST AND BEST LOOKING COLOR.

YOU WILL LOOSE YOUR HIGHBEAMS SINCE H.I.D CONVERSIONS DO NOT HAVE TECHNOLOGY TO SWITCH TO A HIGHER VOLTAGE BEAM, HOWEVER NOW A DAYS THEY HAVE WHAT YOU CALL BI-XENON WHICH IS HIGH AND LOW BEAMS IN ONE. THESE BI-XENONS HOWEVER ARE VERY EXPENSIVE, LIKE $1000-$1200, $800 IF YOU ARE REALLY LUCKY. CHECK OUT XENONDEPOT.COM OR EBAY FOR BEST PRICES. PEACE

AS FOR ASSHAT, KEEP YA HEAD UP!, UP YOUR *** SON! TEEHEE!

Please make use of the caps lock button on your keyboard next time. Also, anything above 4300K bulbs will actually put out less light, but more color. Lumens drop with higher color temp, making 4300K the most effective lighting.

HID stands for High Intensity D(something) lol

And yeah there are bulbs , but if the bulbs were just as good, im sure no one would be spending the money and time to go HID. So there is a big difference. Thats what im getting from this thread.

Oh and guy with all the caps, you are blinding my ears with all that type-yellin your doin. ... haha

High Intensity Discharge

HID kits 99% suck imo. they are not reliable and do not last as long as OEM equipment.

You can retain the High beams if u put HID's into a Projector housing. but the high beam on the HID bulb i just dont see that working to well.

I think you are referring to the "Xenon" headlights, which are supposed to be identical to HID kits. However, they are still a halogen bulb, not a HID bulb/ballast. Basically, they are stock-type lights with a colored film/coating on them. They are inferior in every way, and they are not recommended.
