LSvtec is one of the best motors that I know of, buddy of mine had a intake, cat back exhaust and stage 2 racing clutch ran high 14s with crap tires, but it all depends on what you wanna do... all motor I would go with a b18...

get ready for detonation on that ls/vtec... i almost guarantee the k20 would be faster just being stock but like i said to you in all motor forum... you're gonna dish out the green.

if you want the b16 try endyne's website... they got the biz on some pistons (roller wave)

and a stroker kit... do that and go bust some asses and let people look under your hood... the looks on their faces would be priceless.

To this day I don't understand why people put ITR pistons in LS\Vtecs. Do people like lowering their compression? That motor needs a set of P30's or PR3's.

???

with itr pistons you're making 12.5-12.7:1 compression

with p30 you're making about 11.5:1

I'm almost positive that with itr pistons you have less compression than with p30's in a stock bore/stroke lsvtec.

Depends on which ITR pistons are used. Here are some compression ratios that I found.

B18a/b block w/ a b16a head and a stock head gasket

P73(B18c5-USDM ITR) pistons will result in about a 11.1:1 compression ratio

P73(B18c-JDM iTR) pistons will result in a 11.6:1 compression ratio

PCT(B16b) pistons will result in a 12.3:1 compression ratio

PR3 pistons will result in a 11.6:1 compression ratio

P30 pistons will result in a 11.9:1 compression ratio

just go with a b20vtec, with 6 grand. i personally have owned two b20vtec and ran mid 12's with them in a eg. I spent about 6 grand on both of them. But right now i own a h22 crx and it pulls alot harder then any b motor ive droven.

Itr pistons RAISE the compression on a ls/vtec. They can be had cheaper then pr3 or p30 and have a factory coating on them.

i gotta say, the most feesible plan is the B16a_t. With the right Internals and the right steps....you'll hit 12;s all day. turn the boost down and you got a smoking D.D...It's all about the right setup in the right car. My Hf with my N/A B16 does nothing but make people smile, including myself. I love it. But if you want the most bang for the buck....invest in a wicked/proper b16a_T.
The K series might be the best right now....but it's just the next b series compared to the D series. and there are more T_D series out there that whoop on all B series. As i'm sure most B series_T will whoop on the K model. It's all a matter of $$$ and the Goals.
My vote....
B16a_T
beefed up Retainers/springs
lower the Comp on the pistons
Better bearings on the bottom end.
You'll eat everyone and still get about the OEM SI EPA Gas mileage. hehehe
