tranny help... 5th gear pop out

Default tranny help... 5th gear pop out

hey, guys... ran a search... didn't find anything on this.

got a cable b16 tranny that i've been beating up on for about two years and last night my 5th gear started popping out...

don't know what it is... is it fixable or am i going to have to get a new tranny... any help appreciated.

Maybe the syncro is gone? did you check your syncros on the tranny or anything?

3rd and 4th grind sometimes... 5th has never grinded.

do not quote me on this...but if you input shaft is messed up doesnt your 5th gear pop out? is there any tranny noise?

is there fluid in it because on my hydrolic LS tranny it used to pop out when i was low on fluid because it leaked

That is a classic sigh of a shaft bearing going bad. You can either keep driving it until it destroys itself and then throw it away, or go ahead and fix it now before it gets too bad.

Had a friend with the same prob on his D16y7 tranny, it was bad synchros

actually i've been having a fluid leak and a bad bearing.

thanks for all the help guys... guess the car gets parked until i can get this fixed.

yeah, it's possible to rebuild it, and the sooner you do it the less parts will need replacing.

Put some more fluid in. I had the same problem because of low fluid.

when you pop out of gear your neutral detent notches which keep you in gear are obviously not doing there job..
