Default need some advise from ya expert

i bought a 88 CRX SI from this guy for 7 bills but he said somethings wrong with the motor. he was at work one day and start redlining the car 4 time on neutral and on the fourth time the motor went puff. he said the car will start but it wont go over 2 1/2k RPM. need alot of help here.

Well for $700, if the chasis is straight, and the interior is decent its a steal. Remember, you can find another motor and swap it yourself for less than $400. Also its an Si :D - Darrell

Sounds like
1) Broke the timing belt
2) Floated a valve or two
3) Blew a rod or four
4) Had massive bottom end failure

Any if not all of the above.

well hope i can figure out wats wrong with the motor cuz i just sold my Y8 to my boy.

Do a leakdown test and a compression test, and if you get odd readings pop that head and give the internals a look.

Borrow a friends distributor and see if that helps. If you have a code 8 or 9 that will keep your car from going over 3k rpm.

look at the front of the block for a 2.5" diameter hole and oil shooting from it. oh wait, that was my buddies hatch when he revved his engine to like 13k. i should dig the video camera up and upload that somewhere. haha. but seriously, sounds like you blew a rod to me, just like what his car did.

got the car running normal. the guy blew the head gasket so i just put a new gasket and my 89 si head on it.

thanks every one for helping out.
