Default To thouse that have blow there motor under warrenty...

How long did it take for them to fix it? I took my car in on the 22nd of Jan. for a spun rod bearing. I just spoke with the service guy at the dealer and he said that they won't be able to get anybody out there to look at it till the 2nd week of Feb. Is this normal? They have not even said if its covered under warrenty yet! I'm going to call national tonight when i get home, just wanted to know what you all thought. Thanks.

i bent a valve on my 97R in the spring of 98. The parts took almost 6 weeks if I remember correctly. once the parts were in, it only was a few days.

Parts delays are understandable, there is not alot the dealer can do about it. Especially R specific parts back then when there were fewer Rs on the road.

Wouldn't the rod bearing be common to all b18s (and possibly other mills)?

Labour delays would be a function of the dealers work load, and possibly their willingness to do a specific (warranty) item... I might want to call around to other dealers and/ or contact the head office for a friendly inquiry...

I'm calling the head office tonight when I get home. I could understand if it was labor or parts, but they have not even started to work on the car. They are wait for the factory honda rep to get out there and tell them if it is warrenty work or not. I don't see why it would not be warrenty. Only work I've done on it has been tranny work and that has nothing to do with a spun bearing. Dunno, guess I'm just pissed cause I've been having to use a slow crv for the past 2 weeks.

I wouldn't mention your ATS FD...

They might pull something like..."It caused the car to rev faster than it was supposed to which caused the Oil Pump to not keep up and starve your bearings"

Some bullpoo poo like that...

Installed an ATS final drive. Still have the stock flywheel and clutch installed.

I had to tell them as you can tell the tranny has been droped. Tanny work as nothing to do with the engine. That is what a rev limiter is for. They'll cover it, I'm pretty sure, they are just trying to get out of it, guess its there job.

Dunno, that is what I have to wait till the 2nd week of Feb to find out (thats when the rep will make it out there). As for Nitro, I have never used the stuff so I'm not worried about it. I have done zero mods to the engine and changed the oil every 3000 miles, this should not have happened. And since it did, it should be replaced with out all this hassle, its a brand new car....

RTR does run nitrous.. but his motor didn't really blow, just chipped a valve
