Type R, no question.

Go there and look up MT's test of ITR vs Prelude SH

Since this isn't a M4D T1T3 STR33T R4C0R quesiton.. Ill bite.

I have both vehicles..

My girlfriend currently tracks the Lude. The Lude is the car I learned to drive in.

The ITR is faster, bottom line. It's lighter more and more responsive. Also, the ITR easily out brakes the Lude.

But the Lude is no slouch, I'm only about 2 secs slower/lap in the Prelude. There SH is a solid handler, the most predicitable car I have driven. I have more confidence driving the Lude @ high-speed than the R.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say the Lude's corner holding capabilities are right on par. The ITR just outshines it in accel, tossability, and braking.

That car, that day, that track, that weather, that driver... on both counts (the ITR and your friends GSR)

ITR's have been proven to run low mid-low 14's stock. I have never done it myself though, BUT i did run a 15.1 missing 4th, giving up and crossing at 86 mph. That is enough proof for me that the R can run 14's easily.

as a prelude owner i will say, without a shadow of a doubt:

ITR.

lighter, better suspension out of the box.

Well, then here's another question to chew on:

Which one understeers more and or rotates better? Or would that be implied by the "tossability" comment?

I own both a 98 ITR and a 01 SH. I would have to say the ITR is a very tight ride. Its like your riding on rails.

I drove an SH when they first came out, and I have to say, it's a very nice car. Nice torquey motor (relatively speaking) and plush interior. Performance wise, like everyone here, the nod goes to the R.

Of course, certain professionals tend to disagree with the consensus of the majority here: i.e.

honda actually came out with something very close to a prelude type r in japan. called the prelude type S. higher HP motor, LSD, shorter gears, stiffer suspension, better exhaust, blue valvecover, etc. just wasn't race inspired like the R. but definitely a performance upgrade over the base and SH models.

The R definatley rotates better, could be due to the shorter wheelbase. But once the SH is set, it will hold a corner just as good as the R.
