Default Staggered FWD setups gaining popularity in North America?

...straight from the factory... a Canadian factory

The Pontiac Grand Prix GTP has been around for a while, with the 3.8L supercharged V6, blah blah...

new for 2005 comes the GXP. The LS4, (a 5.3L version of the LS1) is crammed into the front, a la Northstar caddy style, and sends all its powah to the front wheels. Here are the tire sizes for said car:

FRONT: 255/45/18
REAR: 225/50/18

the front track width grows 0.3" over the non GXP models, doubling the difference between front and rear track.

HA!

Some of us need the same sizes everywhere so we can rotatate 'em.

Front wear = LOTS
Rear wear = Ain't doin' nothin' but keeping the gas tank from draggin'

I've just started rotating mine again too.....

"Huh?...Oh, well, that's different - Never Mind"

Scott, who is AMAZED at how long a tire dedicated to service at the rear can last if left there - and who thinks rotation "may" not be the best choice budget-wise assuming a Hoosier 04 on the rear has a near infinite cycle life...
