Help me pick my rotors
Got no help at all in the civic forum thought i might try here.
Here in Malaysia i cant get Brembo blanks and OE relacements cost just as much as aftermarket products.
I have a EK9 5-lug.
Choices i have narrowed down are
1)AP Dixcel rotors - Are these made by the famous AP brake manufacturers? Anyone use these before?
Pic is of a normal rotor but the ones they import here are sloted ones.

2)Project-Mu SCR - Many have used this in Malaysia and been to track days with them no problem, some even uses the HC Titan Kai 0-800c pads and the rotors look just fine with no cracks after about 20-30 laps at Sepang F1 circuit.

What i really want to know is the difference in rotor material. The project-mu has a dark finish and is not shinny and Dixcel rotors have a normal rotor shine to them.
The Dixcel 0-600c rotors are silver finish and 0-800c versions are gold.

I think there are some places that ship world wide, but depending on shipping, it might not be worth it for you. Like BlueR said, what are the costs of these rotors?

Stop just regurgitating what you see others post as part of the Honda-Tech mantra. Please read and understand the post. This guy is in Malaysia.
If you can get the AP rotors for the same price as Brembo blanks or OE replacements there is no reason to not give them a try...
Do you have any other less "bling" blanks that are available where you are?

Get the cheapest rotors you can find (OEM or otherwise) and treat them as wear items. Blank is better than slotted, or especially drilled.

P, the AP Dixcel stuff is made by Lockheed. You should look for the HTSL rotors (specially heat treated, shouldn't cost that much more than the std. rotors).
They look like this:

Both can be had for about USD200.
The only OE blanks i can get are frm the junk yard used.
The Malaysian market does not import CTR so 5-lug rotors are either special order item from Japan (Dun even know if they can order them) or used ones which cost bout USD100-150.
Never seen Brembo blanks except for EVO sizes.
So i guess i am stuck with these choices.
I resurfaced my rotors twice already and when the time comes, in about 10k km or so i will change out the rotors.
Thanks ITR forum! My post was stuck in the civic forum long time and no one replied.

As long as you don't mind sitting/sleeping/living in your own **** and **** for about four or five business days, maybe we can get away with shipping you out. Getting to Hawaii will be up to you though
On a serious note, shipping is generally a bitch. However, even though we're surrounded by the Pacific Ocean and the nearest point to the mainland is just over 3,800 miles away Fedex still offers Ground service
I am also familiar with several carriers that deal with Japan/Asia/Indo/Malaysia....

Are the flat rate options more expensive than for continental us?</TD></TR></TABLE>
For the normal guy the shipping prices are slightly higher. The USPS straight up rapes you here. Bastards...
Fortunately, FedEx and UPS have come to the rescue of some discruntled residence of Hawaii and offer damn near the same rates as on the mainland.
My room mate manufactures all his surfing goodies and carbon fiber goodies in Tiawan so because of this, we have discounted shipping set up to ship anywhere on and around the western pacific continents and countries.

Hi Shane,
Those are the ones that are in the shop! The HTSL. About USD250 for a pair.
VERY hard to order J's stuff in Malaysia, most i've seen are ECU's. And one EP3-R with their spoiler.
Shipping will be a bitch special order items. But we do get a lot of Mugen shipments from a shop called "Amoil".
Mugen rotors are kinda expensive even given they have good cooling capabilities.
Guess i will be getting the AP's unless i come across any other good deals.
Shane,What shop ships out of HK and have good prices?
Haleiwan-Brando,
Thanks for the offer!
PS: I am still confused as to what is the diff between AP-Racing and AP-Lockhead? Both are diff company all together?
I know AP makes great calipers!

AP Racing used to be under AP but it was bought out by Brembo a few years ago. They are specialized in the professional racing market like F1/WRC etc. ap Racing is a brand created by AP Racing after Brembo took ownership.
likewise, the "Lockheed" name was bought out by Delphi (One of the biggest auto parts maker in England) a few years ago. So now you see this new brand name called AP Dixcel in Japan...it is AP's new line of brake products.
I think you are looking at the AP Dixcel HS (heated/slotted) series, which is probably more or less the same as the old AP lockheed HTSL.
I personally have a full set (front and rear) of AP lockheed HTSL and I've had them for almost 2 years. Like Shane has mentioned, they are of high quality and I have nothing but good things to say about them...but if you do a lot of track events, you are better off with a cheaper alternative. It makes no sense to replace 250usd rotors every so often.
Good luck with your selection.
