Default EF Hatch to CRX gauge cluster swap question

Probably pretty simple to fix, I did a quick search and didn't find anything, i picked up a CRX gauge cluster from a junkyard so my EF Hatch could have a tach, i plugged everything in, Tach dosnt work, the " brights " indicator stays on all the time, the gas gauge dosnt work when the lights are off, if i turn them on, it pegs full, the temp gauges works when the lights are off, but not on, and the check engine light comes on when i turn the lights on lol, ive plugged in and unplugged it several times, if theres something special i have to do let me know, i thought it was a direct swap, my friend did the same in his hatch and his works just fine. maybe the cluster i got from the yard is junk ? let me know guys , thanks.

i have the same problem. u have to take some of the harness from the car u got the cluster from so u can match up the wires to ur car. i think thats y most of the EF crxs dont have clusters that plug and play.

I think thats probably right, i believe my friends hatch is a DX , so it may have just been plug and play for him, but anyone else wanting to chime in would be welcome.

Did you get the right gauge cluster for your car? the 88-89 will only work with 88-89 and the 90-91 will only work with 90-91.

Either way, it would be compatible. You would just have to do some hardcore splicing. Now, the reason your tach isn't working,is because on your gauge cluster, you don't have a tach. Your going to have to wire one of the wires (its blue I think), to another blue wire on your dristributor that puts out a signal for RPMs from the motor, not the computer. Good luck!!

88-89 has to match with 88-89
90-91 has to match with 90-91
they are completely different wiring...

my 88crx cluster w/ tach works wid my 89 hatch

if u want them to plug directly up,and boom thats it. Then, yes the years have to match. But if your just wanting to put it in, you could easily do it yourself with some work.
