Default car wont stay running unless key is held in certain spot

okay i have an 85 crx and the car wont run unless i hold the car just before the point where it activates the starter. So i was wondering what the problem could be, if anyone has any ideas let me know.

You need to replace your ignition wiring. That happened to me once and I replaced the ignition wiring and it stopped. Just a suggestion. Go to the junk yard, and it will probably cost you 10-15 bucks.

the key cylinder itself is faulty. the piece your key goes into is actually a switch that powers ignition accesseory and powers the starter on a full turn.

in order to keep that same key you have now go to the dealership with the vin and get a new one. going to the junkyard will result in you having more then one key to open the car and start it.

WRONG......Its the ignition switch.......

get only the electrical portion of the ignition switch get it at the dealer it only cost around $ 40-50 dont waste ur time with junk yard,,,you don't have to remove the whole igniton switch to replace electrical part once you take steering covers off if you look at the back side of ign switch there are 2 little screws remove those, disconnect the plug and it comes right off ,,,,,install in reverse order
