Default best trans swap "searched"

I have a 2000 civic Ex D16Y8 converting to a manual trans in the upcomming months, and i am looking to figure out what would be the best type of trans for my engine. Best gear ratios? would i have to use an OBD 2 trans is there any difference than an OBD1?

Planing on Fidanza lightweight flywheel upgraded clutch adn pressure plate!

i don't want to this to turn into a IACV confusion thread or anything else just transmission posts please!

u can use any OBD d series tranny, the best tranny u could get for your d series would be the stock d16y8 5 speed tranny. and its obd 2.

Why? So that you can get the shift forks that are prone to breakage? I mean, it will bolt in, but why? Only if you can't find what's below.

Poe said it right - you will want the S40 from the Y8 - best ratios and will bolt right in.
