header gain?
i have a 97 gsr with catback exhaust, clutch and flywheel and intake.. i just bought a dc sports 4-1 header and was wondering if it will give me a noticeable gain in power?
up top it will maybe a little Tq down low but it wont be the end all power gainer for you. you have to have lots of stuff to get the true power form all your little add ons
its like 4whp with certain tuning. Its 1 whp or 8 whp, it depends on your other mods and how its tuned. Are you using a VAFC? If you get a IM, i would also go with a TB...

And might as well get a hondata heatshiled (or eqivalent, generic brand). They are worth it....trust me.
But yeah the more modifications are done to an engine the more efficient each modification becomes. For example, i used to have 2.25" exhaust with a stock cat and DC 4-1 header w/2" collector. Which seemed fine before all of the headwork i did and before my stage 2 cams. But let me tell you, did i ever notice a huge gain once i switched to a 4-2-1 header w/2.5" collector, 2.5" high flow cat to 2.5" exhaust....i mean it made way more of a difference over the 4-1 DC and 2.25" then the DC 4-1 and 2.25" made over the stock manifold and exhaust.
I don't know how important tuning is with such few mods...i mean you might see 1-4whp after tuning but is it really worth it? I'd wait on the tuning until you got a few more mods, a little more compression or some more agressive cams.

i plan on keeping my stock cat because we have state inspections here in va and also on my gsr both my o2 sensors are located my in cat..
my future plans including mods i have now are:
intake
4-1 header
2.5 catback exhaust
8.8 LBS flywheel
exedy clutch
skunk2 intake manifold
68mm TB
fuel pressure regulator
skunk2 stage 1 cams
skunk2 cam gears
vafc
chipped p28
msd external coil
msd plug wires
ngk plugs
unorthodox racing crank pulley
and thats prolly all.. i just want a 13.9 sec timeslip.. i think with those mods and tuning, fully gutted i can run that in my car...
