b16 jdm Throwing codes 4, 7, and 14!! PR3 ECU car starts but idles Very low
ok first use the search button to find out what those codes are i think your code 7 is the tps sensor make sure it is pluged in and if it is than you are going to need to replace it but i would search for the other codes
code 4 is my crank sensor, 7 is my TPS yes, and 14 is my Idle Air Control. I think I might have my wires mixeds up. However, would the car start if the TPS and Crank were non operational?
the tps would make it idle rough your iac will make your car go into limp mode try putting a new one in on both of them and check your wiring on your crank sensor.
ok i solved the code 14 problem. Now about the crank angle I re-checked my wiring and everything seems to be fine. I checked the resistance on both wires running to my crank angle sensor and they fall within operation range. Any other Ideas?
Oh yeah and I also check the TPS voltage and that turn out to be ok. do you know of anyother reasons why I would throw a code 7?

Thanks for the replys guys. I ran wires to the crank angle sensor directly from the distributor plug (the orange and white wires, and yes they are the correct wires because nothing else throws a code) to b10 and b12 on the ecu. I still throw code 4. Could my ECU be bad? Could my distributor need to be replaced?
Also, I checked the voltage on my TPS (the red wire) and the voltage varies from .45 at idle to 4.55 at WOT. That means my TPS is functioning properly correct? The wires also run to the correct pins on the ECU.
Could, for some reason, my ECU trip a code 4 or 7 for some other sensor besides the CAS or TPS?
I really appreciate any answers or suggestions. I am so close!

It could poeeibly throw a 7 meaning your TPS may be on its way bad. If you start to get a bounce in the idle (searching idle) it is a sign of a deteriorating TPS

when the car idles it does fluctuate a couple hundred rpms. Is that what you mean? Any one have any other ideas on my other q's? thanks!
My coworker has a 89 DX sedan, his ecu flashes 6 different codes, has a constant check engine light and runs perfectly normal.

Yes, ,aybe from 1k to 12k, when it gets bad its from 1k to 3k.

Ok, I will probably go pick up a new TPS and see if that helps, but my car definitely runs bad, but I guess that could be mostly because of the crank angle sensor? It wont let me rev the car too high, it sputters/hesitates above 2k. Which is most important TPS or CAS?
I don't know where you plan on picking up a TPS sensor, but I know you'd come out alot cheaper buying a used one here or ebay. I just bought an extra one today because my ECU thru a 7 once, and I know they can be a bitch to find sometimes.
I can get a new one for free from the place I bought the engine from. At this point I am going to first swap ECUs to see if that was the problem, if its not I am going to swap out the distributor and TPS sensor and see if those two problems are fixed. Anyone know if code 4 or 7 can be tripped for some other sensor?
If your ecu is bad I dont think it would throw any codes except the ecu code. You might check a main relay, had the same problem and a wire at the ecu was unplugged a little bit,it was a main relay wire. I fixed the wire and the car ran fine.
well guys, it turned out to be a bad pin inside my ecu plug for my crank angle sensor. I decided to pull the pin out of b12 to check to see if it looked ok and it looked a little funny. I swapped in a new pin from one of the other unused wires and that solved the problem. The motor runs great, VTEC hits, the only problem I have is the TPS sensor but so far the only downside to that is a slight ossilation in the RPMs. Thanks guys for all the info.
