Default turbo EP3 with DC5 head

okay, after months of deliberation, i have decided to do a head swap. i found i should be able to keep my rev hard turbo on and still do the head swap......but then it suddenly hit me.....okay, getting the DC5 head means getting an DC5 ecu....not a problem, they are not that expensive...then i thought about it....the ECU, would be stock, therefore my turbo wouldnt run.......not a problem, get the ECU reflashed by hondata. then i thought some more, i wanted the k-pro upgrade. as of now i would only have to pay 500 bucks because my ep3 ecu has a previous hondata reflash. then i thought some more, "wait a sec, the DC5 ecu isnt already reflashed, meaning the k-pro goes back to 900 bucks.....basically IS THERE ANY WAY TO CIRCUMVENT THIS?! or must i just pay the price, and try to make some of the money back by selling the ep3 ecu and the ep3 head? GAH!

K-Pro doesn't care which ECU you started with. All that matters is you have a K20 under the hood, and you tune it right. In other words, since you already have a hondata reflash, you can just upgrade to K-Pro. No worries about which stock ECU you're coming from.

yeah, that would make sense. now if i can just get a few more replys to strengthen that idea i'll do it. just because i went to k-series.com and a couple of people said i would need to dc5 ecu, and some said not, BUT they didnt mention the k-pro upgrade either. lets hope your right man! hehe!

K-Pro is the ECU to get, people with the K24A2 use them, so a simple head swap should benefit just as well.

Absolutely no problems. Just get send your ecu in to convert to K-Pro. No need for the DC5 ecu.

okay, so here is the deal. apparently this summer, both crower AND skunk2 are coming out with stage 2 cams and accessories for the k20A3. my newest question.......is should i say screw getting the head swap, wait till summer and have an extra 1000 bucks for whatever because of not buying the head? or not? i know the a3 head is a true vtec, but once i get the new cams from either skunk2 or crower for the a3, it shouldnt matter anymore, and the dc5 head will be a waste of money? cause if we are talking only 10 horse gains from swapping, i can make up for those 10 by tuning with my k-pro once i get the new cams and such.

I'd take the announcement by Skunk2 and Crower with a grain of salt. Apparently, they've been announcing these items were due "in just a few months" for a few years now.

Wait, I thought the k20a2 has "true vtec," and the k20a3 doesn't.
