Default Need a hand control TIG torch

I'm going to be welding at some odd angles soon, i.e. I'll be kneeling in an awkward position. I now need a little info on hand-controlled torches to replace the foot pedal for some applications. I have a Syncrowave 350, probably about 10 years old. Can I get something to piggyback on my current torch?

Oh, and if anyone has any ideas about welding around the spare tire compartment in an EK coupe without a hand control, let me know!

C/K connley kleppen make a really nice momentary switch that allows you to also slid it forward slightly and lock it on. http://www.ckworldwide.com the website doesn't show the switch but it does show 2 different amperage controls.
I have the momentary switch that is built into the handle of an HW20 style torch the only way to go so I know they make it and it's really all you need to weld a car together there is a remote amperage control available for your machine from milller if you want some additional flexability

You could use the buddy system.

No, seriously, I've done that before, it wasn't that hard (the buddy system, not the EK thing).

heheh I fabbed up a "boot" for my pedal. It has a strap right above my calf so I can do welding on my back under my car lol.

What you need: http://www.millerwelds.com/pro...s.php

The slides are really touchy and can be a bitch to use. You bump them and you will flash yourself all the time. Also, it's very uncomfortable to use since you use your thumb to slide it. Just hold your hand out like you're holding the torch, with your thumb up top. Now take the tip of your thumb and move it down towards your pinky finger and then up ....it's uncomfortable to do.

The roller above is much easier since you just move your thumb side to side.

Should this work with my pre-LX Syncrowave? It's just THE syncrowave. And shoot, I wonder whether this is worth buying...I don't have $175 to spend, hmm....

I used the buddy system when i fabbed up the front clip for my 63 nova. It works ok but a hand control would've been great. I thought the millers sell a nice dial type for their tig, i would give them a call and see if it can be used on yours, heard good things about them. I would give it a try with the foot pedal, i used one upside down in fetal position in between a few frame bench crossmembers and my main crossmember , it can be done, it's just a PITA
