Default good news - bad news - news news

The good news: formula 1 coverage makes a comeback and rednecks are heard running for the hills

The good news kay so finally after doing a boat load of alignment fidling, fender triming and corner weighting I finnally got to mount my pimpy new 15x7 enkie rpf1's and equally pimpy ra-1 toyo's courtesey of endless usa (there h-t sponsors btw and excellent service) And the car grips now incredibly well considering all things and the 9.5 lb wheels can be felt in just the suspension and braking alone - decently smooth ride

The bad news : caliper clearance is horrible and i'll be luck to squeeze in some 11in brakes with out spacers - The tires are a bit taller than my stockers so the super weak tqless wonder d15bvtak is even more so laggert - They also raise my car up so I have to lower it even more to be the same height meaning even less shock travel before I hit the bumps

The good news: sparco was out of the new circuit seat in black so I made the guys at promotion dig and they found me probably the last touring seat sparco sold to them

The bad news: sparco has the most insanely tall and heavy bracket system I've even seen basically adding another 30 pounds it seams and making me glad I have a sun roof so my helmet will fit halfway in the car - The FIA tag is from mid 02

The good news: it matches my almost equally as tall pimpy bride passenger seat again on sparco rails - Luckily after only spending countless hours fabricating a not so pretty fix so I could retain my sliders as getting out of the seat other wise is impossible I found out vision makes super low sliders for the psuedo racer that are height adjustable so I can basically lay the seat on the floor while at teh track and raise it up while on teh street. This little fact will play heavily in the cage design for the drivers door diagonal and will make it almost non obtrusive should I manage to break an almost imperviuos seat. There enroute from memory fab

And in other interesting news

The top setup "yes I drove the equivelant of 100 honda challenge races from chicago to cali and back and still kicked major butt without blowing up my k20 swap while mishifting over a 9800 rpm rev limit like some other people" civic will be making it's best motring debut next tuesday when the DVD will be released - I'll be among the first to get it

After his sudden dissapperance from honda-tech frank lin aka ghetto racer will be making his honda tech comeback shortly I assume as he has purchased the black civic si recently posted here and will be attending next months honda-challenge race - hoping he does well and brings some more exposure to the series with his internatinizzle staus bizzles

And in bad news

Thanks to the rediculous prices of land and the fact the city of fontana is stupid - The california speedway is reportedly going up for sale soon so that penske can make a friggen fortune on the sale. Don't be mad as they have always planned to put housing in that area and it would then have only been a matter of time.

I would put the Frank Lin thing in the bad news category. He's an ***, and he'll probably hit one or more HCers and then say he's not at fault.

he'll fit right in with ryan

I can already imagine the I hate kiwi and honda cup bumper sticker on the si

besides there have been oh so many "yeah don't tell me about cost I once wrecked someones ferrari on track" by far more respected members

And after 12 gagillion track days he's got alot more experience than some other guys who are all into the dirt on turn 1 now. And with that haircut he's got now you know that stunna's not got to wreck up his whip - hell I would probably feel safer surrounded by frank lins than some of the h4 CRX battlebots

Lots of track time does not = good judgement, or a good attitude, clearly proven by Frank. I thought he had been banned from ALL NASA events because of such idiocy. Accidents happen in racing, and people go off, that's just how it is. What happens leading up to that and following that is what determines a respectable racer IMO. Again, from what I've seen, Frank did not prove himself respectable in his first competitive venture incident.

As for Ryan, I trusted him enough to let him drive my car, something I would not ever do for Frank.

in a post a while back you said that the enkies had great clearance, and that your civic had 11 inch front rotor's and that they fit, also that the 11 inch rotors were stock, and you said you would provide pictures, now your story has changed.

im just mentioning this cause i was under the impression they had shitty caliper cllearance but you said they didn't.

so which is it?

Which 11" brakes? I've got the Fastbrake 11" kit with the VW rotors and integra calipers. Since someone(s) liberated my slipstreams(along with quite a bit of the rest of the car), I'm looking at the RPF1's as a replacement wheel. I think I'll have to trial fit a set before ordering.

I too was under the impression that the RPF1's had the worst caliper clearance of just about any 15" wheel on the market. Reports have said that they won't fit a GSR or a Mini Cooper - both of which come with 15" wheels stock. The problem is the inside diameter of the wheel - not caliper to spoke clearance.

Anyway...

About Ghettoracer - I guess I give him some credit. If he is going to get his competition license and go wheel to wheel he deserves another chance. That was the main rap on him, that he did all those track days and thought he was a race driver. Then he screwed up in his first wheel to wheel race. So let him try again and see if he sinks or swims. As mentioned above, other people have made mistakes too.

So, he's either trying to learn and improve...or he's just a glutton for punishment!

hrmn !!!

you might want to go back and reread my response

I did say I would post pix however so I brightened up one I took yesterday a bit - The brakes are stock 10.25 in civic ex 4 door abs brakes so they'll fit a GSR no probs - you can see I have about 1/2 to the side of the caliper and like 1/3 of an inch to the spokes

later today I'll try to get a better one

It was a very minor interference that seems mostly the result of casting flash on the outer edge of the Integra caliper. A few seconds with an air grinder on each caliper solved the problem forever.

Air grinders are $19 at Harbor Freight.

yea, there is a "hump" on the inside of the wheel near the spokes that basically makes the inside diameter the same as a 14" wheel. I talked to Brian goodwin about the wheels. He said they definitely fit on integras, as he has sold some sets to ITA integras, but they do not fit on minis, new miatas with sport brakes, nor do they fit over the goodwin big brake kit which is a wilwood caliper with an 11" rotor, basically the same as the fastbrakes 11" kit which I was able to use stock civic si wheels with on my old car.

It's ashame too, the rpf1's are sharp looking, not too expensive, very light, durable and available.

is that your car above? you need to lower it more? For what, hot import nights stunnoff?

AFAIK, there is a minimum height at almost every event...I cant see that car flying.

Of course, maybe this is just some picture you dug up...which would make this post meaningless.

no it is a pic of the car - with the suspension fully adjusted now - it was just a very dark pick so I brightened it till I could get more - and I still have between 1-2 inches depending on which group of rules your refereing to

before you say things of that nature go out to your car and measure 5in's from the welded seam towards the ground

I'm going to try and find someone locally with the 11in kit and the dyna lite calipers because I think it may just clear those

Where the hell did you hear that?

1) Penske doesn't even own California Speedway anymore, he sold it to ISC years ago.

2) With two Nextel Cup dates, that track ain't going nowhere.

Yeah it was sold a while back my bad - it has been going around work alot - there was even some mention of it in the daily bulletin a few weeks ago - The land is worth many hundreds of millions right now and since it's part of the san sevane land reclamation project there working on putting new business and homes in the area and that only means even more trouble for the track

I would assume that any new owner would have to honor any pre commitments through the end of this year at least - but since it's already half over that's not very long

hmm 6inches to the welded seem on my car still - too bad my exhaust will drag on the super bumps in my driveway

the sun suxs when I need to take a pic
