Hey there -
Ohio isn't so bad, especially the NE Ohio Akron-Cleveland area. OK the weather does suxxor lately. But beyond that, we are within easy distance of several great tracks (Beaverun 90 minutes, MidOhio 90 minutes, Nelson Ledges 60 minutes, Waterford Hills 3 hours). There are also some drag strips if you're into that and some local autox events. So in terms of motorsports all bases should be covered.
Shop wise, Stiffler does a good job with race Hondas. Another option is Rich Johnson at Backstreet Performance in Medina - he does alot of race car prep and also street tuning, has a dyno onsite (330-764-1932). Last you could email James Lucas (jameslucas2@yahoo.com), his dad has a race prep shop in Hudson. Those are probably the main guys I would trust.
If you're new to the area, a couple of us meet about once a month at the Loose Moose in Sagamore Hills for Loose Moose Race Team - we basically bs about what we're doing with our cars, Trigun tries to get people to buy his used stuff, Sean makes sarcastic comments, and the rest of us harass the waitresses about being our bikini team.
Later,
- Markus

I was going to mention Mikey's Ukrainian women obsession but didn't want to frighten anyone off!
Speaking of Loose Moose Race Team, should we meet up in May?

You're barking up the wrong forum if you're looking for the "import scene." A scene we are not. A bunch of motorsports-enthusiast guys who like beer we are.

If you're looking to dyno, call Rich at Backstreet in my first post.
If you're looking for the "import scene"....go have fun. There is somewhat of a scene in Akron/Cleveland but it's mostly bling-bling. If that's your game, check out ASR (Akron Street Racing) and the Superfly Sundays (Stunnaz meeting in a park and checking out each other's bling bling). I think http://www.ohiohondas.com has more info on that stuff.
The scene (in here at least) revolves more around motorsports, ie autox and road racing.

I used to love Bob Evans, especially their sausage biscuits and gravy. And don't get me wrong; it's still darn good food. The problem is their prices have gone up. Alot! Breakfast really shouldn't cost $7.99!

If you're serious about autocross, autox.net is probably the best place to start. They have a email list/forum that is kind of slow message wise but it does have all of the event date/location information, including for the NORA events. Between ASCC and NORA there are probably two events per month.
Unfortunately the NE Ohio SCCA doesn't really have any autox presence in the area anymore.
What type of car do you have? Have you ever autox'd before and if so what class?

Im currently running a 95 honda civic hatch, no mods really just a short air intake, hop to get an exhaust system soon, but need rims, if u guys know of any good autox type or something like 15 or 16 let me know i need rims my steelies sux the tires on them have no traction i slip around all the turns. Let me know if u guy can help me set up my ride for autox. The big problem is though that im old 16 so money is a major factor. Let me know if u have any help for me. kinda like the rotas, gsr fat fives or some lithgweight rims with like low profiles like 205/45R16 or something like that. Help is much appreciated.
Thanks
Thanks
go with 15's or even 14's with some sticky cheap tires to get started, falken's azenis sports or some kuhmo mx's. Then save up for springs, shocks, larger sway bars. Take your time and do it right.
can u give me details are they good shape, what kinda tires, i got brand new goodyears on my 13's but id like to get a cheap set for autox, give me the details thanks man. you and email me at hondapwred95@ yahoo.com, let me know ur location and maybe i can stop by sometime. Im located in akron
