ITR Missing Problem Help??
About 4 Months ago i had a problem with my ITR misfiring. I had a buddy of mine come and check it out. After we changed the spark plugs and wires it didnt do it for a while. Had it parked for the winter then first time i start it up runs perfect, until i get about 100 miles away from home when i started it up after stopping to eat, the mis was back along with the check engine light. So i decided i was gonna take it to honda and just let them deal with it but next day when i start it up runs fine. Ran fine for a couple months then today it started it up again. My ITR only has 30,000 miles on it and im starting to get frustrated with the damn thing so any suggestions on what the problem may be or if i should just take it to the honda dealership and let them deal with it. Thanks
Yes i was going to change the cap and rotor but after my friend worked on it he said that wasnt it at all. That was my first idea also because of moisture. I have heard it could be the injectors is this true?
Dunno about the injectors but I've had missfiring issues with Caps and Rotors before and even when replacing them with new generic "autozone" types. I stick with OEM for this stuff.
Yea and it also seems like my itr gets terrible gas mileage, even when im not blastin vtec, doesnt seem to burn oil but thats another reason im wondering if it could be the injectors.
Cap and rotor, then ignition coil. It could be a sticky injector too.
Does it happen at any particular time? Just when cruising and hot? Or when cold? What about load, does it happen when idling, or at WOT?
Definitely get the code out, but I bet it will be "Random Misfire #x cyl".https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=978933 code 71, 72, 73 or 74.
See which cyl has the problem, if it is just one then you should look at the plug to see if it looks like it was lean. If it IS just one, it could be cap/rotor, or fuel injector, but probably not the ignition coil.

I took it to autozone and had them run the code. It was a random misfire and they told me ignition coil but i thought i would get a second opinion. Advanced toldme that it was a oxygen sensor. So i got the oxygen sensor and ordered the ignition coil. Im putting the oxygen sensor in tomorrow and see if that helps but its hard to tell bc it picks and chooses when to do this. I wont drive it for like a week and sometimes when i go to drive it will start the misfiring and sometimes it wont.
I feel that Oxygen sensors should be replaced in pairs. Not one or the other. I feel that many others on here may agree with this. Kind of like doing your spark plugs...
*edit. I feel it's also a good habbit to do your dizzy cap, plugs and wires all at the same time as well. Even if one particular thing may not be the culprit to your problems, the piece of mind knowing that the problem is solved and everything is fresh is generally a good feeling.

in pairs?? are u crazy? those things are expensive, theres no need to replace the secondary one since it does nothing to affect your performance, basically when ur cat ***** out, ull know it
or be like me and tape it to ur linkage and u wont have a CEL hahah

remove distributor cap, check rotor condition. if its brown for the most part, it may need replacement. worn out dist. rotor and cap will make your car run hot, it shouldn't cause misfire, but it will run in safe mode hitting fuel cuttof at early rpm, even partial throttle. now... check spark plug gap, what spak plugs are you using? wrong spark plug gap can cause misfire.. and use dielctric grease on spark plug wires.

correct, no need to replace both at once. i'm using my secondary for primary right now because my primary took a dump 20k miles ago.
