Default The dreaded broken rear Lca bolt through strut on 98 civic info for those who don't know

well i recently bought a 98 civic ex and the first mod i did was skunk 2 coilovers all the way around started on the rear passenger side took off the tire used the air gun and "crack" the bolt head snapped off so i had to cut the strut off then soaked the bolt in liquid wrench i tried beating the bolt out at first and the bushing was flexing therefore no progress then i got smart and used a hammer to hold one side and hammered on the otherside finally breaking it free probably not a good tech thread but i tried and it helped me and may do the same for you as well sorry i wasnt thinking and didnt take pics!!

this happened to me awhile back when lowering my teg...i ended up having to drill it out. I tried prob everything else before i drilled it and none of the ideas worked.

To save time and patience i would just say drill that sucker right out

well if you keeping the same shocks just take the whole lca off. If not good luck might as well have the bushing pressed out and a new one put in

well i just went through this and what i ended up having to do was to take the strut off, then to use a high power torch to blast out some of the bolt and then just slam on the long end with a hammer until the bushing and the bolt came right out (the heat kinda melted the bushing up, but just a tiny bit to the point where it was soft and could pop out). Well then it was easy to just bang the bolt out of the bushing and then reinsert the bushing, new bolt, and strut. now all is good with my setup! KYB gr-2 Rear Struts with Neuspeed racing springs

the old one was still good. just melted a tiny tiny bit at the end where the bolt was blasted out. Lubed it up with some greese and popped it back in. good as new
