Overheating on hot days??

My girls EK overheats on hot days it seems only. Cold days seem fine. There are no mods to the car accept I hooked the radiator fan to come on when the car comes on due to it not coming on ever (relay problem I guess). So the fan runs constantly and she still overheats.
When this happens I tell her to turn the heater on full blast and the temp gauge goes to half way or a little under. I bled the system 2 times, I'm pretty sure there is no air at all. Coolant looks fine, no water shooting out of reseviour either, doesn't boil over, no signs of leaking, I'm stumped.
So the main symptoms are, car overheats on hot days, turn on the heater and goes back to normal or close to normal. Anyone know what this could be? TIA

I would bet it's your thermostat. I have a 90 Accord for a daily driver and it started doing the exact same thing. Changed the thermostat, completely flushed the rad/block, refilled, and no more overheating.

I had the same problem, changed my thermostat and flushed the cooling system and nothing... as it turned out my radiator was clogged and not letting the proper amount of collant flow... so i bought a PWR Aluminum radiator...

The bottom is warm and the upper is hot. Should they be close to the same temp? Or should it be a little colder because of the heat transfer?
I can keep my hand on the bottom forever, but the top will get pretty hot.

depends on the car...
i think full open is 195*F on my civic (i think)
i would first make sure the fan is turning on...
then i would first replace the thermostat (quick and relatively cheap)
then i would take my radiator to a radiator shop to get acid dipped because it is probably clogged...

Well, FAN IS ALWAYS ON as stated in the first post.
What about radiator cap? Can this cause this also? If I replace the thermostat, I will also replace the radiator cap as well because both are cheap and easy.
Aslo when I was bleeding the system I put a radiator filler funnel (big neck) and filled it with water to the top, reved the motor and fluid started to fill up the funnel as I reved and dropped back down. Is this normal?

yes, radiator cap can also be a problem...
if you noticing the coolant overflow tank being filled and never returning to radiator, then your radiator cap is bad or there is a leak in the hose between radiator and overflow tank.

Upper cooler?? Is that where the coolant goes into the head and the bottom is the return line?

Changed the thermostat and radiator cap. My girl is driving it for the first time today so we'll see what happens. I also bled the system for 4-5 fan cycles and hooked the fan up the right way (relay seems to be working so no more fan on all the time).
I'll let you know what happens.
