Default jdm b16 idle whackiness

1990 crx si with 1st gen jdm b16 swap with PR3 ecu. I had really high cold idle when starting the car, so i unbolted the fitv and screwed the white plastic part all the way in (i never disconnected the coolant lines). The idle dropped down when starting the car, and ran great for a day.

The next day i started the car and the cold idle was 1500rpm, i thought this is great, i waited for the car to warm up and left, 5 minutes from my house the car hesitates, burps, and throws a code 3 MAP sensor, of course the car runs like ****. So I reset the ecu, code is gone, but car is still idling like ****.

I tested the MAP sensor and it had 5v across all connections. Checked all the vaccume hoses and connections, everything was tight. I cleaned the iacv, disconnected it and checked the no load idle for adjustment, with the iacv disconnected the car idled steady (no movement) at 750RPM.

Put everything back together, reset the ecu. Car ran fine, but the idle with the iacv connected after warmed up bounces between 1250 and 1350RPM.

Is that not high and shouldn't it not be bouncing? I'm at a loss as what to do next.

I have the exact same problem as you for awhile now and am stumped also.
Only thing I havnt tried is to replace the EACV & check TPS voltage.

I plan to try another EACV if I ever can find one for cheap.
Till then I live with it since I dont drive it to often.
(1989crx si b16a / pw0)

Try another EACV if you can find one and let me know if it helps!

Im almost certain that is a TPS problem. When your TPS is going bad, your car has a bouncy idle. If you throwing a code 3 your map sensor could also be on its way out, however, im pretty sure the bounce in the idle is due to a TPS going bad. That is the problem i am experiencing right now and everyday it gets worse.

I have the exact same problem, same motor and ecu as you. I tried a new TPS didnt change anything. I think my TPS is readin like double what it should at idle and WOT. I replaced the IACV and it didnt change anything excpt my high idle when it was warm, and now when I first start it up cold, it idles low (1K or less) for a minute then it gets up to 1500-1600 rpm for warm up. I think its my FITV. Im gonna try that next.
