Possibly buying 86 CRX Si Slight damage...cost estimates?
Driving down to my shop this morning later than hell lol, and I come across this Si for sale. Well Im allready late so I swung around for another look...
The car has 255,000 miles (so its finally broke in lol) working a/c and the general CRX stuff. I called the guy up and during the conversation I mentioned that the 86 Si was the first car I ever purchased off the showroom floor. He mentioned that this car was purchased by his uncle back in 86 and it to was the first car the guy ever bought new lol.
We havent got together yet so I couldnt test out the car yet but he swears it runs great and everything works...no smoke a/c works sunroof works. NO RUST.
The bad is the tires are shot, no biggy got some potenzas laying around here that should look good on some miata wheels.
Needs a front turn signal, rear tails, front bumper, and bumper brace (?) 2 front fenders, really no major damage just enough to warrant replacing them.
The real bad part is around the left rear where the tail light housing is (check pic)
Interior looks really, really good although I couldnt see in the very far back to well.
Paint is alright.
So the guy tells me 400 bucks over the phone and says I can stop buy his shop (the car is at his residence) and pick up the keys to test drive it lol. Well I declined and said we could do all that together later. BTW Im thinking 300-350 dollars.
So what kinda money we looking at for fenders and what nots? As always I will be replacing the timing belt, water pump and all the routine maintanence items.
Any thoughts? THANKS!

What about this being bent? Just a bumper support? Bolt on? Must it be replaced?

i hate you and your immaculate 83 civic.
the front will need a fender, and the support that the bumper mounts to is probably pushed in a little bit. would need to be pulled.
whats more disconcerning is that rear damage. thats gotta be undented and made round again. if its been left like that for a while look to see how much rust has develooped in the unpainted parts.
its definatley fixable, and that interior looks very clean and complete.
its worth 350 even if you just part it out. but dont, make it nice again!

$350 would be good I think. Fender cost like $80-$100 (depends on the place), water pump $20 and the timing belt was around $30. Corner signal lights are cheap, so you don’t need much money.
What's that white cable thing on the steering wheel?

haha well its a shoe lace. Its not attached to anything just randomly wrapped around the wheel.
Well I guess it comes down to how well it runs. Ive got a autox event and my cars not gonna be done by then so hopefully it runs well enough to drive at the event...with some race rubber it should be FUN. Plus its GS class.
