What exactly are you trying to accomplish by having it "rev out high?"

u can go b20/vtec and itll be reliable...pretty much any combo u go will be reliable as long as you pay attention to putting it together right and using correct torques and break it in the right way. I have PT-R n it runs freakin great dude!

I'd go with the poorman, but maybe I'm just biased Also you do know that u can't just take a stock b16 and rev it to 9k right? You'll need an upgraded valvetrain as well as cams that make power that high or it'll be pointless revving to 9k. And yes, you'll definately feel the upgrade in torque with a b18 bottom end.

why would a b16 head on a b18c(gsr) block not be as reliable as just a b16?

I get what your saying, but it's a direct slap on. It's not like an ls/vtec where you have to modify anything. Just do it, you have NOTHING to worry about. There are a ton of those set ups on the road!

I'm so god damned tired of hearing the term "poormans type r." That is so ******* dumb. Sorry, had to vent. Now...in a coupe, don't mess with a .6, it won't give you the torque that you're gonna need to get that heavey car off the line. If funds are available, do a B18c5/C. If you don't have the cash, then do a jdm gsr motor.

why is it so dumb? it makes perfect sence to me. a 1.8l vtec block, with a pr3 head. thats exactly what a typeR is, only the typeR has better cams/valvetrain and a slight p&p head stock. now you can spend 5k on a b18c5 or spend a bit less and have pretty much the same thing. sounds pretty smart to me.
