CASTER /CAMBER GAUGE tool ..where to buy ?? $$$$$$$
i need to get an accurate ( but not to 1/10 of deg though )
camber/caster gauge tool ..
i was cheking on raceing sites and they are crazy!
130$ for a magnetic gauge ....whatever..
i need something that i can put and check on wheels and not on hub ..
something with bubble is enough but i need it to be precise at 1/4 degrees..
any idea ?
custom ??
thanks
ah yes..and links too please ;p

you wont find a good gauge much cheaper. Think of it this way - for what you'd pay for an alignment, you can buy a gauge. And all the rest of your alignments are "free". Now... is your car lowered? Why buy an alignment gauge when your camber isnt adjustable? To set toe, you can really do it with a peice of string and/or a scribe.

nope my camber is not adjustable..
but a gauge is good for life
and i want to run a batch of tests on my car..
i wanna check the camber chanes with suspension in/out
and with body rool
+ it will help me finding the righ height to lower my car too to get the best camber settings..
i have a small problem though..i can't precisly predict the camber change that the lower arm bushing will cause..i wanted to remove them and make myself some in delrin ..but they seem to be a PITA on the ludes to get out and change...mm
neway..for TOE i am ok ..i know how to do it with simple house stuff
but for camber..
the kinda gauge i was thinking about is more something like a bubble gauge that is used for 0 to 90deg mesurements for house contractors..
u know ..the kinda stuff they sell at home depot..though i would need one that i can put on wheel or use a metal bar and use it on the metal bar
and i need it to be well..at least 1/2 deg readable ..
any idea ?

You want something inexpensive for field use, get a plumb bob, piece of string and tripod or ring stand. Just measure the difference at the top and bottom of the rim from the vertical string. And if you really want to splurge get a protractor and figure out the angle in degrees.
The $45 unit from http://www.racerpartwholesale.com works remarkably well (it is always within error of the Hunter machines that normally do the measurements for my alignment).
Actually, the price is down to $40.

that thing is exactly what i need..
and i've seen it already..the problem is that it doesn't work with 16"+ wheels

and my wheels are 16"
though racin wheels are 15" ..mmm
need to think
eheh
if i can't find nothing else i guess i'll just get that one..at least it is at a normal price compared to the poo pooy magnet gauges at 120$+ ;(

It works on my 16" Celica GTS wheels. It isn't hands free at that point, but you can take the measurements just fine, just hold it up to the edge of the rim.
It isn't ideal, but it will work in a pinch. Worth the $40 in my opinion.

you got that one ??
cool..
can u remove both wheel adapters..so u have only the bar and the gauge ?
i don't care at all to have to hold it while taking the mesuremetns..
i just don't wanna pay 120$ for something that i have to remove the wheen each time to take mesurements

i looked through all the racer websites i have found..and they only have magnet ones
or relaly expensive like digital and such..
i only want a nice bubble one that fits on all wheels
tanx..

$40 too expensive? christ. Why dont you go to lowe's or home depot, get a carpenter's bubble gauge, a plumbob, some string, a pencil, a ruler and a protractor. Maybe you can get that for $20.
I really dont know what you're asking for. Do you know what you're asking for? Even though camber on your car isnt adjustable. Only toe.

you guys are really hard on me..
and it is really not correct to take everything i say and put it to the worse..
the reason why i wanted to have more inputs is to get more info on different models.
the one on racerwholesale thing fits on 13" to 15" wheels
what if i need it to fit on 16" or 17"
the price wasn't the question here at all..since 40$ is a good price point i think for a bubble simple gauge like that..and if i cna't find anything better i'll surely buy that one neway ..
i don't understand why u keep rushing me like i do everything wrong

We're not *hard* on you.... as with almost every question you ask, you ask a straightforward question (like where i can i get a good camber/caster gauge) and you get a straighforward answer. Every thread becomes a discussion about how you dont like any suggestion anyone posts. Any answer that is given is wrong to you, and you dont like it, and you continue to argue it. You insist on doing things backwards, half assed, and are always looking for the "cheap" route to doing it. This will always, always, always come back to bite you in the ***. Do it once, and do it right the first time. You've asked alot of questions about suspension - have you actually taken any of the adivce and used it?
Back to the original point of the thread. Your camber is not adjustable. There is probably some play in caster, have an alignment shop set it to the Max factory spec, and dial in 1/16" of toe out. If you want to run a batch of tests and see what effects they have on how the car is working, a camber gauge is completely the wrong tool for you. A pyrometer would be a much better use of your time, as you can see how the tire is being used by the car - doesnt matter how much camber you have, if the tire isnt being used correctly, you're wasting grip. BTW, they are about $100 from racer parts wholesale. I still think you ought to worry more about seat time and learning before fscking with your car's suspension.

lol
i don't plan to be aprofessional driver..and i just like to tunne my car so ...
i think i'll get the 40$ one..can't find a better deal yet ..
and it is good to know camber when setting height of the car..instead of just going blind settings. .
i wanna figure out approximatly how much camber change i'll have while cornering starting with roll degree values to approximate camber while cornering and set ip up correctly to get as close to 0 deg as possible ..

Then we'd completely ignore you. Instead you ask a somewhat intelligent question and then just argue every suggestion we make. Remember, there are alot more people who post to this forum that have alot more experience than you.
You are still using the wrong tool if that is your goal.
