Default Swap just tranny or swap whole motor? d16a6 vs. mini-me d15b2 ?

Well if you saw my old thread this is whats going on...
https://honda-tech.com/zero...24172

... this is the debate.

I know I can swap in and out a motor with in 3 days (just working on it at night).
I have never swapped a tranny so not exactly sure how long/hard it will be.

I have a 90 CRX Si with stock motor/tranny. Clutch is gone (at least thats what I think) Motor runs strong, smokes though, I think its cause the timing is slightly off (black smoke).

I have a d15b2 short block from my 88 CRX DX. I know it was maintained and never abused. I also have a D16z6 cylinder head that I was originally planning to do a mini-me swap later this summer on the d16a6 block.

I am getting a 88 CRX Si tranny for cheap with no grinds and my 88 CRX DX clutch as only 2k miles on it. So I figure okay I am swapping out the tranny, flywheel, pressure plate, clutch might as well swap out the motor.

If I do go with the mini-me swap is it okay if I don't run VTEC until I get either obd1 wiring hooked up or just a vtec activation switch installed. It won't damage the head assembly at all?

Any input? Thanks.

yea you dont have to run vtec if you dont want to.... just leave out the wiring of vtec out and you will be fine basically you will be running on mpfi rather than dpfi

runnin without vtec won't hurt your car at all you just won't have any top end hp.,....I say put the z6 head on the a6 block that is what I got and I am pretty happy with it and IMO don''t waste your time with the RPM switch just convert to OBD 1 it is simple
