Will paint stick to my side skirts?
I juss went to the honda dealership to get an estimate on painting an OEm front lip and see how much it would cost to get my side skirts and that black trim under the rear bumper and he said that the paint wouldnt stick to well to it, but another guy i went to said that he would juss use some special stuff to get it to stick well. Is the honda guy wrong or what?
paint will stick to just about anything if you know what you're doing. the dealership guy is probably busy or doesn't feel like doing it. you just sand the part with fine grit sand paper or even just a scuff pad, then you can use an adhesion promoter that just cleans all wax and dirt and **** off it. the side skirts are sturdy so there should be no reason it wouldn't work. on the trim under the bumper and the lip, might be a little tougher since its kinda flimsy plastic, but if they do a decent job it should work fine.
I've worked in a body shop, the dealership guy is lazy or has some other reason he doesn't want to do it. Take it to the other guy, he'll probably appreciate the business more, and the price tag won't make your *** hurt.
