Default Heatshield configuration.

I switched over to a gas lense and nobody in town stock everything so they had to order a new heatshield for my gun. Well, it doesn't look the the right one, but it looks like it will work. The original one is used along with the other one. Is the primary reason for the heatsheild just to insulate the cup from the torch body? The 2nd peice is flared and tightens down onto the first so there is definite contact. Thanks.
