03 ACCORD LOWERING HELP!
I was trying to lower my 03 accord cpe with Tein S-Techs. I got every bolt that was necessary loose, the 3 at the top, the 1 at the bottom, and disconnected the "fork" that the shock is connected to...but the whole shock/spring doesnt come apart. Theres one bolt more up at the top but that holds the entire spring in place...If i take that out, the springs gonna explode on me cuz it hasnt been compressed. How do I take the shock and spring out???
There is a bolt holding the fork in place, and there is also a bolt which keeps the shock in the fork. Both bolts need to be removed. You need to get some spring compressors. Go to your local autozone/schucks, and they will loan you their spring compressors, you just pay the deposit. You compress the spring, pull the entire assembly out, make sure that the spring is not touching the high hat, then remove that nut at the top of the shock. Once everything is appart, then de-compress the spring. Good luck. Give yourself plenty of time. My 92 takes ~3 hours a wheel. (no air tools)
I did manage to take the shock out of the fork, I removed that bolt. But, somehow the shock is still stuck to something...it wont budge. I tried wiggling it around a bit, but it doesnt come out. Its stuck to something up at the top where I removed the other 3 bolts. On other cars, usually the shock assembly just falls down or comes apart. I had a friend mention that the shock assembly could be stuck to the steering rod and I need a tool to get it out. Any comments?
if you undid all the bolts at the top and the shock is out of the fork, it should fall right out. You compressed the spring right? If not, put that top shock nut back on, and compress the spring as much as you can, then just push the top hat down and the shock should come out pretty easily.
