Which head should I get - B16 or b18c gsr head??
I am putting together a B18C and my next part to buy is the head. I have come across a some good deals on B16 heads and told they would work with the B18C BUT my big question is :
Which head would it be best to get for the B18C1 block - the B16 or B18 head?
Remember I plan to supercharge it later ... BTW the block is being built for around 9:1 compression.

The gsr head will raise your compression a little over the B16. I think the B16 will flow a little better. If you can pick up a B16 head cheap i would do that. Look at the type R motor. Honda uses a B16 head on that block. I would use a gsr head, but thats only cause i have an extra one in the garage!
Hey so what you are saying is that the B18C5 Type-R uses a B16 Head with a different valvetrain, etc? That's kinda odd wow.
Well can somone else also let me know which will be a better option for me - B18 GSR Head or B16 Head for my supercharging project.
Remember compression on the block is gonna be 9:1 and the supercharger is gonna run at 12 PSI with Hondata ECU and bigger injectors.

yes the b16 and ITR use the same head (pr3) but the itr has dual valve springs on both the intake and exhaust side, factory port job, and better cams.
I would also recommend the p72 (gsr) head. But be careful, don't buy a supercharger kit for a b16/itr and expect to use it on your gsr head or vice versa b/c the intake manifold stud pattern is different on the gsr than the b16/itr....well i guess that really depends on which kind of supercharger you plan on using.

Hi, I plan on using a JRSC running at 12 PSI. Whichever head I go with, I plan to have dual valve springs installed, titanium retainers and Stage 2 Cams.
Do you guys still recommend the GSR P72 head?
