Default heat shield

I'm trying to find an aftermarket header heat shield for my 2000 accord 2.3 but I'm having no luck. I'd paint the stock one if it wasn't so gay with the little hand on it. Can anyone give me a link?

I dont know of anybody that makes "aftermarket" ones. But I would reccomend just keeping the stock, and not painting it, if its rusted or corroded just buy a new one from the dealer.

If you have access to a metal brake then try making your own. It would be a nice experience in fabrication.

...its a piece of sheet metal; how heavy do you think it is? i say just get rid of the head shield and exhaust manifold and get a header.

I polished my heat shield up so it blings the engine bay and it makes me happy, that and the powdercoated valve cover.

What you can do is wrap your stock header in exhaust wrap to lower engine bay temps and then you can remove it all together. I'm wrapping mine and keeping the the heat shield for the bling factor...

it's not just a piece of metal like most of you think, there's one piece on top and two piece sandwiching it the stock manifold, it;s metal outside and it's some sort of composite material instead, something i would guess, similar to abesto.
INTAKE heatshield is different from header head shield, the only function of the intake heatshield is block off heat from engine bay but header heatshield you need to keep the heat in, that's a good couple hundred degree. A piece of metal probably wouldn't do you any good beside bling factor.

there's no aftermarket header shield simply beacause there's tons of brand and construction of header, so there's no universal fitment.

the only thing FUNCTIONAL that you might be interested in is THERMO-TEC header/manifold WRAP

availble in different size, length

The directions for wrapping are on the packages, you overlap by 1/2". I bought DEI exhaust wrap.

You wrap it and then you hold it down with stainless steel zip ties. THeres also a spray that hardens it and helps it retain heat better you can also purchas to coat it

well I guess I'll just chill with the gay little hand on my heat shield until the warranty runs out, then I'll go for a header and wrap it up

Just like a couple of others have said, wrap it. That's what I did with mine and it makes a HUGE difference. The heat that gets to the hood is drastically reduced. It can be kind of tough to wrap it so if you have the header off of the car, try it that way. At 6'1'' I have big hands so that was a bit though for me. Good luck with your heat issue.

Like iam7head said, wrap your header...it's more practical than a heat shield because it works.

Try some online places like jegs.com and the like .

Engine wrap has been proven to reduce under hood tempuratures whereas the oem heat shield is more or a 'make a consumer happpy' application.
