Evaporator removed, air filtration
I took out my evaporator yesterday, the final piece of removing my A/C. I noticed though that the air intake side was pretty dirty, and the air out side was clean, so it must do some sort of air filtering. Does anyone know if there's a way to still get some air filtration in there, or am I now going to get more dirt in the car with no evaporator?
bump for more info!!
just wondering, is the evaporator the "thing" under the dash? if it is, when i took that out, and replaced it with a non-a/c unit, there was no type of filter in it. hope this helps.

The coil was the filter. I think if you dropped the plenum and installed a filter at the inlet it would work. A filter that you would find in a wallbanger would work pretty good. You're still going to have the same amount of dirt in your car.
While in your car you're breathing unfiltered air so i think this is pointless..

Why did you replace it? All you had to do was pull of the clips and remove three screws and pull out the coil. Tape up the holes and put it back in.....non-a/c unit in 5 minutes. Then install a blank plate where the lines penetrated the firewall

What coil ? The metal coils inside the box ? That is not the filter, the coils are for the refrigerant to flow threw.

I know all about the evap coil. Refrigerant flows through it and heat is absorbed.
Since honda didn't install an air filter the dirt collects on the intake side of the coil like a filter. It's not a filter, but ends up doing some filtering.
