Water leak in 93 Hatch
I read most of the threads about it recent and archived and was just wondering. I don't really care about the trunk area but my car leaks into the passenger side floor area (front and back). Before I strip the whole interior and check for things I just wanna make sure I got most of the spots covered.
Windshield area (windshield and under the wipers cowl section)
Firewall and the unibody
Weather Stripping (Check no cuts or leaks)
Hood pop cable where the rubber gromet is
Floor for holes
Rear Window sealing
Anyone have a pic of where the wires run through the firewall? I'm not exactly sure where it is. What type of sealant should I use?
Is there anything else I should check before stripping the whole interior?
Can this be the problem? This it the passenger side foot area with carpet off. This is close to the ecu pretty much behind the glove box. Should I seal this hole?
Just noticed where that hole is that whole gray piece (sound deadning?) is soaking wet so I guess that means I gotta take off the dash to see where the leak is coming from?

What type of sealent should i use? There are a bunch, I heard 3m weather adhesive. Should it be silicone based or something like that anyone have experience with a good sealant for cars.

Bought some sealant patch up the hole in the firewall where the wires lead into the passenger footwell there was some sealant but it seemed to be flexing. Hopefully that was the only hole which I doubt cuz there was a puddle and I don't think that much water would come through that hole.
TTT guys need help it's raining from today till friday!

You'd be surprised just how much water can come in through a small hole. One more place I'd suggest you check is in your wheelwells. Since you're in Canada like me, salt eats that **** away and they rot into nothing. Get a screw driver and poke around in there lightly.

If I don't have any fender lining would that make a difference? Should i seal where the plastic plugs that hold the fender lining are? Since i don't have any fender lining would it get in through there?

If I don't have any fender lining would that make a difference? The whole front end was just replaced with oem front though. I patched up some of where the original sealing is on the firewall hopefully that helps.
the trunk on my eg hatch leaks like a 13 year old girl on her period. It used to fill up above the spare tire, but one day I was carrying a 4AGE block in my trunk and it poked a hole through the metal and the water all drains out now.
I think I determined that the leak is coming from the right top side of my foot area. There is a hole I see but can't patch without taking the dash out I think i'm gonna take out the glove box and see if that helps getting to it.
i have a few un plugged holes in my firewall none of witch leak water. i would look somewhere else :/. or do this get a hose spray your care and sit there and watch for it.

Exactly. That's what I used to do at the shop. Go inside the car with a flashlight, and get the girlfriend to hose the car down in all areas, expecially around the cowl area. Tell her to get inside the wheelwells too, and spray the floor too right underneath the firewall. Make sure she isn't using any attachments on the hose, it should be open ended to provide a low pressure high volume stream of water.
Watch where the water normally accumulates on the floor... when you see it start, tell her to hold the hose where she had it, and trace your leak with the flashlight. That will be the end of your problem.

if its not a hole on your floor...then i have no idea.
stock chassis has drilled holes all around the floor...for what reason i do not know. but they are filled with rubber fill of some kind and it might be coming out in the passenger hole area.

i have same problem passenger side floor soaked but i found where is the leak. You might try this. just peel off your carpet you don't need to remove it completly as long as you can get to the rubber underneath it just below the dash and goes behind ecu just lift it up( best way it from ecu side) and aske someone to poor water on the corner of the windshield you should see the water coming down from under the dash the reason is bad windshield cowl seal you have to remove both wiper and pull out the plastic cover air scoop whatever it called and aplly some silicon culk on top of the original black gritty **** it should fix the problem. even if most of the water build up behind the front seat dosent mean it coming from the back it take a slight level change to make the water run down so i don't think any car are perfectly leveled that is why you see water build up first on the back and slowly move it way to the front.
