SRS light is on, WHats the deal, any ideas
Hey all, I just bought this car (a 97 civic ex d16y8 manual trans) about two months ago in Jacksonville, and I got a great deal on it, however the SRS light has been on since purchase, do u all have any clue what might be the problem and what I need to do about it????? thanks for your wisdom ahead of time
Previous owner may have had an aftermarket steering wheel. Does your car have the stock srs steering wheel installed? Is the ecu jumped to check cel's. Any and all of these things could cause the light to come on.. There could just be a problem with your airbag system.
Even if your car has the right wheel in it and the previous owner unplugged it for whatever reason the light will come on and won't go off..
You can have the dealer reset it for like $150 or follow the instruction per this site to reset it....

It might be possible that he had a different steering wheel on because the plastic surround is there without screws though, can u explain this "Is the ecu jumped to check cel's" and where might I gind instructions on this site to reset it??? thanks
