I got followed today...again!
Well, this isn't the first time its happened, but it is the first time it happened in broad daylight. I was on my way to the dentist and I passed a black rice civic pulling out of the shopping center. It was slammed about 1mm from the ground with goofy writing and poo poo all over it...altezzas, blue neons, chrome windshield washers, etc....you know the type. Anyway, he followed me about 2 miles, making multiple turns, etc all the way into my dentist's office complex. Fortunately, he caught a light behind me, so I was able to prepare myself before he actually got into the lot. I got out of my car and walked part way to the building. I stopped on the sidewalk, pulled out one of my business cards, and waited. Sure as anything, he rolled slowly into the lot. I made sure he saw that I saw him. I took down his license # in case anything bad happens to my R any time soon...I'll know where to start the interrogations.
I'm not sure if he just wanted to talk, or whether he was looking to jack me (there was a passenger in the car, but it wasn't in a bad area or anything)...who knows. It just sucks that the million stories I've heard from other R owners have made me so cautious. When I first got the car, I was dying for people to ask me about it...I would have probably taken my time, so he saw me get out of the car and could have approached me. Now I just figure out ways to hide the car and stay anonymous. It's too bad really...the blessing and curse of owning such a rare car. After having someone try to follow me to my house one night, I'm a little more wary in these situations now. Oh well, just thought I'd share some thoughts from an old-R-timer.

All the easier to steal it.
Can somebody explain why R`s are so special in US ? They are not too expensive or noble... they`re rare, I know. But other cars like 600SL are rare too and cost triple+
Is the only reason in fact young guys steal and rip them to throw the parts in a b16 wreck ?
Where I live the local streetracers throw in a turbo kit and other stuff in their 2,0 Opel for less then a set of JUN`s and make 250whp.
They laugh at me because they pay less for their whole cars than I in parts and are WAY faster..

600SL's may be rare but there aren't ten million cars you can swap the stuff from the SL into. simply put no demand for stolen 600SL parts

Hmm,
must be much criminal energy in US... I wonder why people put that much stress on themself in stealing a b18c and swapping parts when they can get a faster car for low cost the legal way..
Sometimes I`m glad to live in EUR

I remember... half a year ago a friend told me that some guys from Poland asked around in the village where I live who`s the owner of that "black Honda with the wing on it´s rear" and where he lives ... My R was meant.
Fortunatly (for me) they asked the brother of my girlfriend named Ronny (a really big boy
). He knew they`d try to steal her and slammed them on the mouth.
