Tripping the staging beams with smoke?
I was Running my wife car yesterday for tuning issues. Did some awesome burnouts with mh's. The first run was okay, the 2nd and 3rd were bigger burnouts and thats where the problems started. I've been racing for 5 yrs now so i know how to stage, and i like to stage shallow. I will slowly approach the prestage an inch at a time, all of a sudden the bottom staging lights come on and the red lights start to flash, it did it both times, i was even more carefull the last time. What the hell? I went and tried to disput it at the tower since the 3rd run was eliminations round. The guy fed me with a bunch of bull **** , he stated that maybe the intercooler was too low, by the way the intercooler sits 4 1/2 inches from the ground, and i think it would of tripped it the first run and the other day at test and tune. And he stated the reason why the beams didn't trip the first time was because the sun was reflecting or something that didn't make sense at all.
What do you guys think? Any of you trip the lights with smoke from your burnout?
Does this guy at the track even make any sense? If so shed some light on the source.

did you measure the intercooler or exhaust (or anything else) at the start line?
I have heard of smoke tripping beams. (that's why I wait until the smoke dissapates)
