Replacing an axle - won't go in.
94 civic si, driver's side axle replacement-
My old axle is out, but the new one won't go into the tranny. I have it almost all the way in, but there's still 1/2" to go till it's all the way in. If it was only 1/4" or so, I'd guess it was just the spring clip being a bitch. Anyone done this before and had the same problem? I haven't tried hitting it with a hammer yet cause there's really no room to do that up under there. I'm sure that the new axle is correct - it's identical in shape and size.

Thats what i use, tranny fluid. You just have to push like theres no tomorrow. Just make sure not to pop it out of its tracks cause then your fucked and in for a long day.
i have always put the axle into the hub, tightend the axle nut just enough for it not to come off and used the steering knuckle, brake rotor, etc and pulled it back and pushed it forward as hard as I could and it always works, you probaly have no clue of what im talking about, but if you wish to try my way let me know and ill try to explain a little better
