help
my 88 crx si will start and run but u have to hold the throttle to keep it at idle speed i checked and the first 2 cylinders from the distributer are getting spark and cranking the third one isnt doing anything the 4th one just sparks and no nothing could it be a head gasket????let me know
i don't get exactly what you mean, its sparking in all cylinders but number 3? how did you test this? a headgasket won't stop spark.
pull the plugs and see what they look like. with my headgasket bad, one of the plugs was rusted (but i was using coolant bad so sometimes i just put in water, coolant has anti corrosion stuff in it unless its really old).
if its not a headgasket, the plug thats not firing should be covered in gas, maybe oil too.
your plug wire could be bad, your distrobuter cap could be bad, your rotor i guess too but not as likely, and depending on how you tested spart, it could have been pointing out a bad plug.
replace the plugs for sure, you're probably up for them anyway and they're like 5 bucks. then try borrowing a different plug wire and/or distrobutor cap.
