Default Problem with 2003 Civic grinding noise in the front

I have a 2003 Civic with about 36000 miles. Just noticed a grinding noise in the front end. Usually occurs when I first start the car and roll forward or backup. The grinding noise sounds like a metal on metal sound as the car begins to move. If the brake is applied then the noise goes away, until the brake is released. This will happen for the first few minutes as I start to drive, then the noise seems to go away. I took the passage side wheel off, and I don't see any markings on the rotors. Has anyone heard of something like this or know what it might be.

Thanks

pads resting on your rotors... probably won't see significant markings. normally its more audible after a drive in the wet stuff

Thanks, I am schedule to have the 30,000 mile check up next week. Do you think I should have it looked at now or is it something that can wait until I take it in for the 30,000 mile check next week. Just want to make sure that I won't be damaging anything if I wait for my scheduled appointment. Thanks for your reply
