wire harness
i have a crx i am doing a d16y8 swap and im not sure about the wire harness would it be easier to buy the crx si harness or the ex harness and what would i have to mod to make it work on my crx
To install an OBD1-OBD2 engine(d16y8/96-00 civic ex = obd2) into your 4th Generation Civic/CRX the following adjustments will need to be made. First, if your car has dual point injection a conversion will need to be made to port injection. All Integra's 1994 and up and Civic's 1992 and up all use hydraulic transmissions. Therefore its not compatible with 4th Gen Civic's/Crx's because these vehicles have cable transmissions.
For the ECU, it is best to use the ECU which belongs with the engine. Several wiring adjustments will need to be made to make the engine run correctly.

you'll need to do a mpfi conversion on your wiring harness (no point in buying an si harness as you'll have to add to it also). Then you'll have to add wires for the extra stuff on the y8 (vtec, vtec oil pressure, knock sensor, etc.). You'll also need a conversion harness to convert to obd1 or obd2. If you convert to obd1, you'll have to swap distributors to an obd1 distributor as well. In other words, it's more than just swapping another harness in.
give us a call at http://www.rywire.com we can get you wired which ever way you would like. Use the factory harness
