Need a pic of D16Y8 distributor on a NON-D16y8 SOHC VTEC motor
Or some info as to where the bolts might go.
The bolt patterns on the D16Y8 VTEC dist. are different than on my VX motor.
At first I put it (cut some parts of the dist. and used washers) in and was getting about 25mpg(and it was driving like cr*p to boot). I wasn't satisfied so I advanced it a little and now I am getting 36mpg. I should be getting about 48/55mpg. I'm just not sure how to position this darn thing. (stupid D16y8 dist.!). Today I advanced it a little more. I wish I had a timing light, but autozone and checkers won't let me borrow one. Just wanted to get an estimated position of this D16y8 dist. on my non D16y8 SOHC VTEC motor.
Any help would be appreciated.

Distributor position doesn't matter...it is all relative to the cam timing.
You could have two distributors at the exact same position, and the ignition timing would be different because the cam timing isn't identical.
Get a timing light, there's no way around it.
